We need a new chord

The problem with todays music is everything is derivative of everything else. Now you see a lot of bands being influenced by the New Wavers of the 80's like Duran Duran. This wont last. This fad will fade very quick. The Neo-garage rockers will hold up because there is just more substance musically to that style. But what is needed is for some band to just start experimenting with the guitar to find new chords. Chords that have never been played before. Go to the bottom of the Guitar. Start some sliding. Just start messing around. Create a new sound. Find a new chord because Im getting bored. Sounds like a song does'nt it?

Fully agreed.

We need innovation and a lot less imitation.

I think most alternative fans that actually expect to hear something alternative are waiting for that breakout sound. It could be out there hidden in a garage in some town, somewhere. When this sound hits, we will know it! Once it hits we will all love it, and then it will get copied and copied and yada so on. yep. We need it.

Agreed...but the record labels ensure you hear what they want which is usually more like it. Bands today rely mostly on powerchords...pity I had that mastered so quickly.
