We Saw EM! New Towers going up in Zenia

Bill and I are delivering a truck body to a company in Kettering, and while passing through Zenia this morning we were following a BIG flatbed that looked like it had four self supporting radio antennas on it fer sure. We followed it along RT 35 for awhile and it turned off at 42..We had to keep going along 35 or get in a whole rotton world of trouble with this company..so we couldn't follow it, but Bill says he bets its for a new oldies station there. If this is any wheres near Dayton then they get a new oldies station huh? Sweet. What station will it be? Any ideas? Hope I'm not letting out any secrets, but the tower parts were all stacked up on the flatbed, and that guy was haulin' big time to get these delivered. Man alive 4 tower would be sweet. Loud I'll bet too. Holy Crap. Hey we stopped and ate at a place called Pine Club's restaurant. A guy at the Freightliner place out on I71 told us to go into town and get a steak there. Bill likes steak, and wow this was good. But we were not dressed up much so the lady made us sit near an old phone booth that they use for storing plates and stuff. It was a nice big juicy steak and altough it was really pretty expensive it's okay because we didn't eat all the way from Arizona except for a box of Little Debbies so we could have a big dinner here, and the truck people have to pay for us to eat. Now on Thursday we are getting a cattle trailer and renting a Ryder truck to go to Pembroke Pines, Florida. Bill likes Florida becasue of the space launching pad. He sits there sometimes and talks about how he wanted to be an astraunaut. Like that would ever happen. Hah. This job is as close as we'll ever get to going on a rocket. Once when I was a little kid, my Dad took us into Dayton on a bus, and we ate at a Big Boy restarant. That was one good burger, and WING radio station was accross the street. We saw Steve Kirk. Is he still on "High Flying WING"?

Thank You

Howard

Those are probably for WGNZ (1110 AM). It's a daytimer licensed to Fairborn but with transmitter site outside of Xenia. Format is preaching and southern gospel.

Their current tower site has 3 towers on it and is by the Lowe's / WalMart shopping center. The land has had a "for sale" sign on it for a while and is probably going to be used for more commercial development.

They have a construction permit to move to a new site just east of 42 and north of the 35 bypass. The CP is for 3 towers and pretty much the same pattern as what they have right now, but their power will increase to 5 kW days and remain at 1.7 kW critical hours.

Steve Kirk retired from WING in the 1990s and now lives in Florida.

By the way...that's Xenia...not Zenia.

OH with an "X" Xenia..sorry the CB guys made it sound like it was a Z. Hey you guys here are really nice. Thank you so much for all the information I had no idea how nice everyone here is. 1110 huh? So they are already here and on huh? Gospel music? Okay.Seems like a lot of expense to not play oldies. Well that's okay we have a bag of CDs and most of them are oldies so we play those except that the Ryder truck we are renting tomorrow doesn't have a CD player in it. So we have to listen to the radio as we head to Florida. Maybe we will see Steve Kirk. We have to leave on Thursday so we will be here for another day. We are at the Traveler's Suites and there is an Outback Steakhouse so we can eat, but Bill doesn't care for Austrailian food so we'll find some Little Debbies and Pepsi and he'll be okay. This room has a cable. I am walking over to the Outback. They cook steaks on a griddle. I think Austrailian girls are pretty. Is there oldies in Kentucky? We have to drive through there on Friday with this stinking cattle trailer. Bill want me to pour some Listerine in the trailer, but he's just foolin. The trailer is almost new so we don't know what's making stink so much. Neither does the guy at Ryder. We left it there tonight and they are going to wash it out for 150 dollars. Hey we really like it here. Bill wants to come back here on vacation. You are all so very nice to us. Not like in Watertown, NY. Everyone there is angry.

thank you

Howard

Hello. yeah that was last year I remember that. We drive all over the country and into Canada a lot. We like Scott Fybushes' website, and Bill and I both like radio towers. I'll bet we have a truckload of pictures as much as Scott does. Bill is better at spotting tower parts and stuff especially if they are under a tarp or something. We saw some neat ones in Arizona, and Texas already this year. One of them has like 12 antennas on it for one station by itself. Man I'll bet that a loud one huh? I hope we aren't bothering anyone with this, but there aren't many people who even know what we are talking about and that's why I ask so many questions on this message website. Like I said we are supposed to go to Florida tomorrow, but the rental truck guy didn't wash out the trailer that we are supposed to tow so I don't know yet. The man who sends us our routes called Bill and told him that we would have to pay part of the fuel for these deliveries. We have never had to do that. Bill drove motorhomes for Coachmen for about 2 years, and I used to drive a goofy cupcake truck in California near San Fransisco and I liked it, but we wanted to travel and see stuff so we did this. We have never had to pay for fuel. Why should we have to pay for it? Neither of us are very smart. So I have to be careful. There is not much else I can do except drive something. Bill is just a little smarter and can do better because he can operate carnival equipment. The dispatcher charges the customer for the delivery and the fuel, so why should we have to pay for it? That is stupid. Now Bill wants to quit and work at a White Castle. I want to go to Florida where it didn't rain as much, and people are nice. I like nice people and this town has been so nice. We had a steak at some place tonight called Barnyards or Barnwall or something. It wasnt very good and both of us are grumpy today because of this fuel dealie. And it was expensive anyway. Sometimes Bill can be a little nasty and we had a big fight about this today and he is sometimes a butthead. Like today

thank you

Howard,

I haven't had such a good laugh after reading your posts in a really long time. Don't despair, if Bill wants to work at White Castle, it's ok. Maybe he can get a second job working at the county fair operating the Tilt-A-Whirl!

On the way to Pembroke Pines we ran into a snag. A lady at the Saver's Inn near Static, KY thought Bill looked like a guy on America's most wanted and called the highway patrol on him. I will send more after I deliver this stupid trailer in Florida. Bill is still somewhere in Kentucky I think. Holy crap is our boss steamed over this. I enjoyed a yummy steak dinner at a place called Cattlefly's in Preston. It was good.

Thank you

Howard

I don't think it was eminent domain (especially in light of the Norwood court case results). Looks like the land was sold (or will be sold) for some big bucks...

Saw a 3 tower array off in the distance driving down Lower Bellbrook tonight..looks like theyre up if not running

You can see the top of at least one of them when on the 35 bypass around Xenia. They sit down off of the US 42 exit the east of 42 and north of 35.
