WEATHER CHANNEL ANNOUNCES NEW LINEUP STARTING JAN. 31

They are going for all original shows from 8-10 Mon-Fri with a one hour live
WEATHER CENTER program before and after.

WED.
8 & 8:30- new show CAUGHT ON CAMERA (whoopie) Mike Bettes
9 & 9:30- WEATHER PROOF Stephanie "I just can't stop" Abrams (science tests/products)
THUR.
8- new show STORM RIDERS (tornadoes, hurricanes, ice storm chasers) (whoopie)
9 & 9:30 CANTORE STORIES Jim "can I get some more makeup" Cantore

On other days they will have other "popular" Weather Channel shows STORM STORIES,
IT COULD HAPPEN TOMORROW and WHEN WEATHER CHANGED HISTORY (whoopie)

Comment: Can the lame get any lamer? I think 30 minutes of kids doing the weather
would be more enjoyable.

When they finally have Stephanie Abrams doing the weather in double entendres while wearing a bikini; that's when I will tune back in. ;D

Until then, I'm not impressed.

I guess we are seeing more evidence that when Comcast takes over NBC Universal, The Weather Channel will
continue to be less focused on what this network was created for, except when severe conditions warrant live
coverage.

Ay, what the hell, bring back that "Weather And A Movie" gimmick!

Even then I wonder.....

May as well tune to the local station running a REAL weather channel like KUSA 9 does with its 9NEWS WeatherPlus Digital Subchannel which is also on Xfinity Channel 249. At least it's TIMELY & FAIRLY ACCURATE

Just my opinion.....

Cheers :D

So true. If I'm looking for the tornado and got the computer unplugged I'm
on the live weather radar sub channel.
Except KUSA doesn't just put up the radar screen. They use AccuWeather for the national weather forecast & run local weather loops during breaks. KUSA simply uses WeatherPlus since NBC Universal dropped the name like a hot potato & they saw no need to change it when NBC left them to fend for themselves after buying TWC (Which KUSA masterfully did BTW).

Cheers :D

Hey, I'd watch that!

The Weather Channel is grasping at straws anymore. It's so easy to get weather information just about everywhere else now. If there is a major weather event happening somewhere I might tune in. Otherwise, I haven't watched The (kinda) Weather Channel in over 5 years on any regular basis. There is too much other weather information to be had while TWC is running some lame movie that's very loosely tied to weather. Look for the Weather Channel to go the way of The Nashville Network soon.

TWC began realizing that well before the NBC sale (in the early/mid-2000s). Sadly, that has meant bad cutbacks for the channel (including laying off a 26-year charter meteorologist a couple years back).

I do think a show with kids doing the weather would fly. They could have about 10
in each 30 minute show and pick the best one......somehow. It works for America's
Funniest Home Videos.

The winner would get a family trip to Disney World and a years supply of Hostess Twinkies
(the show sponsor).

This "primed for excitement" is not news. They have been playing around with a no forecast lineup on and off the past few years. Nothing new to see here...

What would be actual news is if they made an announcement that The Weather Channel would air nothing but weather forecasts and conditions live 24/7. That would be earth shattering news.

Which further exacerbates their slide since they run off the people that watch the channel for what it's stated mission is and they wind up attracting a younger, more fickle audience.

For those of you with Dish Network, remember when DN dumped TWC for their own weather channel , I think it was called "your weather today" or somethnig like that ...it was minnesota based and reminded one of the old weather channel.
It lasted about a week before TWC and DN agreed to a deal where TWC would start up THE WEATHER CHANNEL 2 just for Dish Network???

Wonder what ever happened to that part of the deal ???
