WEATHER CHANNEL BECOMING MORE IRRELEVANT

I like the Weather Channel because I'm interested in the weather going on nationwide, not just in my town. Of course there are a million other ways to get your local forecast, but sometimes I want more than that and TWC provides it. With that said, I do find their entertainment programming quite annoying and irrelevant.

TWC has ceased to be useful for me as a source of weather information. Ever since I dumped cable years ago, I have missed having the good ol' "Local on the 8s" forecast for my immediate area. However, with innovations like the iPhone (and widgets and gadgets for my desktop and laptop) I can get a temperature reading at a glance or a swipe of a finger, and forecasts from many different sources (local TV, NWS/NOAA, Wunderground, Accuweather, and yes, TWC).

Plus I have a good old-fashioned thermometer on my back porch.

So is TWC irrelevant? To me, the answer would seem to be yes.

TWC still has those. If you weren't getting them before you dropped cable, it ain't TWC's fault (Unless we're talking TWC - The cable company)

Cheers & 73 :)

I have extremely rarely watched TWC since they were bought by NBC-Universal. I don't like Al Roker's show, I don't like Storm Chasers and Coast Guard Alaska crap, and I don't like people being so hyper about the weather (yep I've seen meteorlogists here in Seattle go absolutely CRAZY when an inch or two or snow falls...shut down all the schools!)

I used to like Stephanie Abrams, but boy does she get on my last nerve anymore. That is, when you can find her doing the weather in between news (read non-weather) spots. This morning I noticed Mark Mancuso, formerly of the Weather Channel, on the Accuweather channel we get in Knoxville on WBIR 10.2. Also, normally with the blizzard that hit the plains states 12/19/11 and 12/20/11 I would have had the WX Channel on quite a bit, but I didn't bother with it at all for this event. I've seen enough of Cantore wetting his pants over "thundersnow."
