Weather Channel LIVE Graphic

Alright that new LIVE graphic The Weather Channel has when they got their new graphics just doesn't work. It covers up some graphics sometimes, it is also to far from the top left corner of the screen. Does The Weather Channel really need a LIVE bug, I don't think so. Just get rid of it or go back to the old LIVE graphic.

All depends -- is their late-night programming still pre-recorded?

Is the Weather Channel ever not live?

As in when they're showing actual weather forecasts, not that Storm Stories crap. What, are we going to see "This weather segment was previously recorded on 4/4/2001. It does not reflect current weather conditions in your area" now?

And, yeah, it's an ugly graphic. The new graphics package is pretty bad altogether. Why try to fix something that wasn't broken to begin with? It's not like they have any competition at all outside of digital subchannels on some NBC O&Os that aren't even on most cable systems...

(Are any Birmingham area systems carrying Weather Plus from WVTM-DT 52.2? I know St. Clair County's systems don't have it yet)

Of course not -- all the local segments are still live and fresh.

As for pre-recorded forecasts during the national segments -- don't know if they still do, but they used to tape their late-night segments and loop them.

At some point in the night, I think around 11PM or midnight MT(where I live) or so they will begin forcasting specifcally for the West Coast, including Hawaii and Alaska. Or that was how they use to do it, I haven't checked that out in a while. I know international forecasts were included. They also did earthquake stats in their Pacific forecasts. After a couple of hours they begin to loop the forcast segments, unless there is say a big storm I presume.

But things may have changed since I was a regular TWC viewer while pulling all-nighters...now, I only watch during hurricane season. I think it was seeing Jim Cantore hosting the show "Atmospheres" over real weather reporting that turned me off.

They still do except if there is a large area of severe weather, then they're live.
