Weather Channel Meteorologists on Atlanta TV

I’ve noticed many Weather Channel meteorologists have moved over to Atlanta TV. Most of them on CBS46. Why is everyone jumping ship over at the Weather Channel and coming over to Atlanta TV? Is this also maybe a part time gig for these folks?

Most of them? I don't know about "most of them", but I've only seen 3 meteorologists formerly of TWC (The Weather Channel) working in Atlanta TV, 2 of them are at 11Alive, and the 3rd meteorologist is at CBS46. The 3 meteorologists I'm referring to have left TWC since the 1st 1/2 of this decade, the 2010s (pronounced twenty teens) decade. Those 3 meteorologists are Samantha Mohr & Heather Tesch (they work at 11Alive on weekends) and Alexandra Steele (who works for CBS46 on weekends). Out of those 3 meteorologists, Samantha has worked the longest at 11Alive. Heather joined 11Alive sometime between the first of 2018 and now. Heather works weekend mornings and Samantha works weekend evenings. Alexandra Steele joined CBS46 sometime between the first of 2018 and now. After Alexandra left TWC, she worked for HLN for a while. Now that Alexandra is at CBS46, she's working weekend mornings. I don't know if she's working weekend evenings. She may be, I don't know. I don't know of any other former TWC meteorologists working in Atlanta TV. AFAIK (As Far As I Know), new meteorologist at CBS46 Ella Dorsey has never worked for TWC. I've never seen her at TWC. The first time I saw Ella on TV was when we had a recent severe weather outbreak come through the area. The storm system that brought in the outbreak was what TWC named Winter Storm Toby. The frozen precipitation stayed well to the north while we got the tornadic stuff. Ella works both the 12PM (12 Noon) & 4PM newscasts during the week at CBS46. Ella also makes a great fill-in when Jennifer Valdez can't come in in mornings. Recently, Jennifer returned the favor by filling in for Ella. Both Jennifer & Ella do an awesome job. I would like to make it perfectly clear that ever since TWC started naming winter storms, no one in Atlanta TV has ever made reference to the names. It's still that way today. Instead, they say words like Snow-mageddon, Snow-pocalypse, & Snow Jam. I'm sure this will all change if & when the WMO (World Meteorological Organization) starts taking over naming winter storms. Anyway, that is all.

Add former TWC veteran Vivian Brown to the list. She was on TWC over 20 years. Now we see her on weknends on CBS46 News at 9 on Peachtree-17 (which btw is a moniker I like better for WPCH) Lol

One thing that happens in broadcasting (and certainly other industries) is that, after a while, you end up making more than you're worth. It happened to me.
This often happens with a sale and the inevitable management change. The old company is dogged by the high payroll of longtime employees.
The new company will often have a "house cleaning". So, its better to get out, while the getting is good.

well Karen Minton was at the weather channel before jumping to channel 2 over 30 years ago

And, WSB hasn't changed hands...ever. Wonder how many stations can say that. Didn't she work at WCIV at one point?

Well, Heather Tesch has returned to TWC and her replacement back at 11Alive is a guy by the name of Wes Peery. No, he’s never worked for TWC. Info about him: He’s from Columbia, MO and he was a storm chaser. This is his 1st weekend at 11Alive.

As for former TWC meteorologists who’ve come & gone on Atlanta TV. There are 2 that come to my mind. There’s the late John Doyle. Here are some links concerning his career:

https://www.radiodiscussions.com/showthread.php?560413-Laura-Huckabee (No, former CBS46 meteorologist Laura Huckabee has never worked for TWC)

The 2nd former TWC meteorologist is Arch Kennedy. He first worked for 11Alive approximately back in 1998. Then he did freelance work back-and-forth between TWC & WSB-TV Channel 2 from about 1999 to 2003. Anyway, that is all.
