Weather Channel outage

It looks like there is a major nationwide outage of the Weather Channel. For the past hour or so, the screen has been flipping between national maps (no music), a black screen (with music), and an occasional commercal.

Also, Weatherscan (Comcast Cobb County, GA, where TWC is headquartered) is acting erratically (incorrect time, missing data, etc...).

Looks like to me this is a national issue from their offices. No mention on the weather.com website or elsewhere what the problem is.

A quick check of the NWS reporting station in Atlanta shows overcast skies the last few hours, so it can't be weather-related.

I can't recall anything ever happening like this before, but then again my memory's failed me spectacularly recently. Has something like this happened before?

March 13, 1993. When the big blizzard of the century hit, TWC was knocked off of the air for two hours or so because of a power outage.

There was a period around that time (early-mid 90's) when the channel would go off of the air for a few minutes every now and then. (This was when they were in their Cumberland Parkway studios behind Cumberland Mall - which is close to where Comcast has its headend for parts of the Atlanta area presently)

Weatherscan seems to be acting more normal now (the time is correct - but no current conditions). TWC now has national graphics and music.

I would suspect they are having some issues with the electricity.

I'm gettin' Prevue Guide flashbacks... ;D

UPDATE: TWC is giving 5 minute forecasts, alternating with two minutes of national forecast/music. No locals (Weatherscan still not up 100%).

It sounds like they have been evacuated, because you can hear traffic sounds in the background (they have a chroma key and working graphics). They are making no mention of what happened on-air. Atlanta media is not reporting anything at the moment.

There must have been something major (i.e. fire, busted pipes, car crash, etc).
