Weather God Retires

Incumbent Tucson weather god* Jimmy Stewart of KVOA-TV 4 will retire in May
(assumption: after the sweeps period). I am told it was announced on today's
Jive At Five newscast.

*: Not to be confused with original Tucson weather god Michael Goodrich. (Alfo doesn't count. ;D)

More than likely, some consultant determined that Jimmy lacks sex appeal which is a very important element in accurately predicting weather.

Ever noticed how the local TV newscasts are looking more and more like watching the Playboy Channel? Only difference is that the gals keep their clothes on.

Back to radio, Jimmy had a son who worked at KRQ many years ago. Last I heard Jeff Stewart was on some station in San Diego.

...and old VHS tapes of Michelle McAndrews on The Weekend Flash are still more accurate, too ;D ...

I've started a petition to get soon to be unemployed weather babe at FOX 32 Chicago, Amy Freeze to bring her "Freeze Factor" to Tucson....hello KVOA!!!

... in addition, Jimmy's son Jeff worked at "92 FOX FM (KFXX) . To confirm, yes, Jeff currently works in radio in San Diego (and, probably making more money too). ;D ... & like those before Jimmy who also telecasted local weather (Hank Hubbard, Pat Stevens, Al Fogal, Tommy Wright, Tom Lang, Michael "Whoopee" Goodrich), ... here goes another piece of Broadcast History. Too Bad. I also agree. Local TV newscasts are "too" hollywood-ish, and focus on which is the more technically advanced ("...local news in "High Definition") instead. Local News on the radio as well has lost it's way with more focus on "bird fed" programing. It would be nice if Someone could revive the "Arizona Broadcast Network" for news in and from around Arizona . . . both radio & TV. . . . . . anyone ?

But do we really want a revival of "Farm & Raunch, agricultural news from throughout
Arizona, is a pre-recorded news production of the Arizona Broadcasting Network"?

And bury it at 5:20 AM, just before Sunrise Surprise. ;)

I congratulate Jimmy Stewart for being the,in my opinion,BEST local weather person on T.V. Nothing against Chuck George at Ch.13 or Erin at Ch.9, but Jimmy doesn't have to disect the weather with all the computer graphics, although he does his share, as the other 2 main weather people. I,like most, wish him well. Sad to see another piece of Tucson Radio/T.V. history fade away.He has earned his retirement.
Maybe Jay Parmoon, former Ch. 9 weather guy, will apply for the position. He was good.
Thoughts?

Who??? ??? The trend is a semi hot babe type for forecasting weather....young with the weather credentials to tell us that it's frickin' hot outside.....

Erin Christiansen over at KGUN is very talented. Maybe its time for women to take their place in weather. Michael Goodrich told me it would be that way. ;)
