Weather Teaser?

Does it make much sence to use weather teasers? Was listening to one station during morning drive and at 5 after the hour they tell you to stay tuned for the latest weather, then at 20 after play a weather jingle and have the the weather lady say, "It's gonna be warm today, stay tuned for further weather information." At 55 after, finally the weather forcast.

If they tease, they need to tease enough to remain informative ... not just say "beautiful day today, details later" and 30 minutes pass ... but give at least the day's forecast ... "beautiful day today, it will be mostly sunny with a high around 70, complete weather later".

Of course, the station consultant would probably not like "later" ... the current one would like a specific time promise that is kept. "Complete weather in five minutes" or "complete weather at 55 past" with the promise kept (don't say in five minutes and then wait ten).

It sounds like the station you were listening to violated that promise ... they asked you to stay tuned but kept you hanging too long. 35 minutes is way too long for "stay tuned". Set an appointment or don't mention it!

Or ... just go ahead and spend the twenty seconds on "Today / Tonight / Tomorrow" every 10-20 minutes.

And for goodness sake, don't offer the weather on the sevens every time unless you're News/Talk.

The basic teaser would be ... "beautiful day today, but is that going to change? Details later."

or "beautiful today and for the rest of the work week, but are you going to be able to get the yard work done this weekend? Tune in at half past the hour and we'll let you know."

It worked. You stayed tuned, right? But this would only work for us old dudes. The kids would grab the mouse,
click on the weather right now. Then, turn off that jock who tried to keep em hanging on.

This isn't the first time I heard this station do this, so I listened for 1 hour to find out when they actually would give the weather. I wouldn't give anyone 1 hour to prvide me with weather information in morning drive.
