I guess it depends on how your streaming PC works. We use Icecast for the streaming media server and connect to it with a machine running DarkIce for the audio. For live broadcasts I shut down the darkice process at the studio and activate another one at the live location. We go live from the show for the duration & then activate the studio encoder again. As long as both are on the Internet it works good. I would think that anything else would give you "cascaded compression" and sound that might be full of artifacts. We do this for live concert broadcasts tho, where audio quality is of concern. So if you're just using mic's and it's interviews, maybe Skype? Seems like you could take a little mixing board & plug it into the mic jack of a laptop then call the studio.
