Webcasting (Podcasting) in Canada vs. The United States

I know there are millions of people doing broadcasts over the internet here in the United States (myself included), so that listeners can go to a website and listen. Sometimes they put certain series (shows) they like onto an IPOD or an MP3 Player so they can listen on the go.

My main question are...

1. Is podcasting a common thing in Canada, or are there just a faithful few broadcasters with a faithful few listeners?

2. Do a lot of Canadians listen to American podcasts and vice versa?

3. Do Americans and Canadians have some of the same content?

Now I mentioned that I'm a podcaster. Usually people do one "show" a week or Monday through Friday, but I do different shows throughout the week. I call it a "network" because I have multiple shows, and they're scheduled at different times of the week. For right now, I do sports podcasts only, but I have a music/sports hybrid show in the works...

You can listen to my shows on "The Five Minutes To Go Network" at:

http://fiveminutestogo.podbean.com

Just click on the blue "play" buttons to listen to my shows, and let me know what you think of my material...I haven't had any Canadians listen to my show yet, so it would be nice to get a since of how my shows would play to a "semi-world audience", as I know there's a lot of different cultures in the "Great White North".

My latest episode should be uploaded to the Podbean site no later than Noon Eastern Time or 11 AM Central Time, so be sure to listen...

Thanks in advance,

It's up now.

Jonathan, just a heads up. The link given, within your body of text, gives me a "404". However, the link in your signature line does work.

I do listen to podcasts, but they have to be in my areas of interest. Unfortunately, sports is not one of them (sorry man!). However, I do wish you the best of luck with your venture, as the internet is still -for the time being- fairly wide open.

1. You must be the one from southeast Ontario that showed up on my podcast's hit counter map...

2. I had some tech gremlins with Podbean, so I uploaded all my stuff to Podomatic.

3. As far as programming goes, I did try a news/talk show for a month, then I decided to limit news to one minute briefs, and my numbers dropped, so I went back to just straight sports/talk.

4. Even though sports is not your cup of tea, maybe you know some people who are sports fans, so be sure to let them know about my venture as you called it. I mix in stories about Canadian teams every now and then.
