WEBE with offer to Shelton student banned from prom

Besides being (probably) the first ones locally to offer this nice gesture it doesn't hurt anybody. It appears those kicking in to make it all happen are sponsors of either WEBE or sister station WICC.

Besides, it puts a nice positive twist on a story that shouldn't even be a story. The "headmaster" is a total putz and had it in her power to bend the rules if she so chose. And come on, "headmaster"? This is Shelton High, not Bushwood Academy! IIt's a pretty sad state of affairs if this is how an alleged college-educated "headmaster" acts, and don't get me started how I feel about the Superintendent!

I say good for WEBE for offering it and I hope Tate and his gal-pal take them up on it. I know Robby and I think they would have a fun time.

Looks like the Shelton school board got the "headmaster" (At a public high school? Please, "Doctor" Smith, you're a principal. Deal with it.) to back off. James is going to the prom.

It was a given that some radio station would cash in on this story; the question was, which one. WEBE, huh? I was expecting Kiss-FM or KC101. Because we all know that Matchbox 20 and Celine Dion is what the hip high school kids are listening to these days! :D

Why does everyone support this kid? I don't get it. He defaced public property and endangered himself by doing it. (I assume he had to climb a ladder to get those letters up on the wall). He was also trespassing by being on school grounds during non-school hours. Why didn't he ask for permission before doing this? Answer: because they would have told him No, which means what he did was wrong. The kid is lucky he was not arrested. I agree with the principal/headmaster on this one. You have to know where to draw the line. If they let this incident go without punishment then you'll have some other student next time taking it a step further. And obviously any radio station is just using this "story" as a way to get publicity.

Yes, the radio stations are using this for publicity, much like the 7 remote TV news vans that were camped out in front of the school last week. And, what he did was dangerous, climbing 20 feet up a ladder on a flat cement surface. Much more dangerous than running head first at full speed into someone, like the football team does, or catching a hockey puck with your teeth... I'm not sure duct taping cardboard letters on a building defaces anything. If the letters wern't taken down, the rain would have done the job this weekend. Lastly, as far as tresspassing is concerned, if it's such a problem, why aren't there "No Tresspassing" signs up? Why aren't the cops arresting the senior citizens who walk on the track all hours of the night?

This was a power trip gone bad. Should he have been punished? Yeah, a detention, or some community time, but suspension? Just a little over the top, Headmistress Bligh.

Publicity = Ratings = Advertising revenue.... need I say more?
