WEBN April Fools Parade

WEBN should have never stopped doing The April Fools Parade. It was the last creative thing in Cincinnati radio. Shame it went away for ever.

"The Real" Mary Peale played a bunch of cuts from the old fool's parade archives last night on her "Jelly Pudding" show on the fox. Funny as ever, fresher than anything on now.

Classic radio, sorry I missed it. It seems no one in the market does anything entertaining on April 1st anymore. Cincinnati radio is not what it once was.

Given the fact that April Fools Day was on a Sunday, (when most stations are voice-tracked or board-op'd
by a newby) it doesn't surprise me at all.

I loved The Fools Parade! The first one I heard was in '80 or '81 when I was in junior high. I liked it so much, I used the school's reel to reel deck and recorded most of the day. I probably still have the tapes. I even attended the event a few times!

It was great radio for its time. Hard to imagine the technologically sophisticated listeners of today buying into the concept of it being a real event.
