WEBN FILES - "The Quirks"

I am on the phone at two am, and the back door opens, and in walks Liz
Frolic in black leather high heel boots. She walks past me like she owns
the joint, and does not say one word to me. Enters the bathroom. Comes
out, and leaves by the same door. Not one word ! Thats ' normal !

I am at the station, and I see Bo talking to Liz Frolic in the parking lot. She
hikes up her skirt and jumps on the back of his motorcycle and they shoot
down the driveway.

All done loading the scully playback machines, and I have signed on the
transmitter log and done the readings. Loading the scullys was tricky in
some respects. You are working with reel-less ten inch tapes that the
operator has to put the sides on while unloading the tape box. GOD help
you if you drop one on the floor. I was lucky, it never happened to me.

Miles Duffy ( the PD ) was following me around the station all night, room
to room; he even followed me down in the basement to the record library.
We had no fence on the entrance to the driveway of WEBN radio at the
Price Hill location ( The House ). District three was about one minute away
down the hill. One night for whatever reason, I climbed the WEBN tower
off the back porch until I was about 10 feet above the house gutters and
that was high enough for me. I came down and have never climed a tower
again.

If you don't know the area of town; WEBN's tower at the time ( 1967)
was about three minutes in a car from the 700 foot tall WSAI - FM
tower on Prices Mountain...most people who lived in the Price Hill
neighborhood thought that tower was WSAI 1360; but it was not !
WEBN Secret Files

The tower is still there isn't it? On Considine between Glenway and Warsaw, across from Glenway Park.

I remember coming in one night to do my all night shift and seeing red and white paint all over the ground. I later found out the guy fell to his death. :(

That was during the time Larry Goshorn and The Sacred Mushroom practiced across the gravel driveway in another building.

I also remember Frank Wood, Sr. in his Porche flying up the driveway one night in very much anger coming into the air studio with his Porche keys and scratching the vinyl tracks of Stepenwolf's "The Pusher" because of G..D... and him saying "Thou shalt not use the Lord's name in vain."
