The old days of the classic rock stations are done. Get over it and move on.
The best years that WEBN had in the morning was when the Dawn Patrol of Eddie Fingers, Robin Woods and Bob the Producer were there.
Clear Channel can go suck some eggs.... that's about all that they are worth anyway.
I am not an employee or fan of CC but they still are having success with WDVE in Pittsburgh. With CC (and most operators that plan to stay in business) it is all about what a station bills. If someone or group could make body noises (your choice) 24 / 7, polkas or whatever and CC could could sell it for more than what ever an existing station is playing we all would be listening to body noises, polkas or whatever.

I don't work for CC. Nine-out-of-ten Ma-and-Pa businesses are registered corporations. What do you want instead? Hippie communes running radio stations? What is your problem with WEBN?

There's a big difference between Ma-and-pa locally owned and operated registered corporations, and a huge conglomerate such as Clear Channel. Apples and oranges almost. I'm sure that was what 2ndsout was referring to, what with all the cost-cutting, centralization, and homogenization of programming.

It's SUCKED for Years... but I guess that since you drink the Clear Channel Cool-Aid, it's obvious that you are oblivious to the fact they (WEBN) only have a 100 song inventory. For crying out loud- Pink Floyd recorded MORE then just Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall.... AND Led Zeppelin recorded MORE then just Black Dog... Open your Ears!
Geez. All I can say is "ClassX". The Suits don't understand us. They think I'm nuts the way I program it. I like it like that!
Anyone that remembers the Frank Wood version of WEBN would definitely agree that, today, they suck. Frankly since I signed on ClassX, no one I have ever talked to, can stand them.
It used to be in radio, if you did your job being innovative, entertaining your audience and pleasing them, the focus did not have to be on money. The money would come. Now, narrow minded programmers focus solely on the money and continue to shrink radio's core audience, while they tell you that the same 20 over and over is what listeners want and that Arbitron's number don't lie. They simply won't admit that their theory is shrinking radio's core audience because intelligent people can't stand the same 20 over and over. Commercial radio is in it for the short term. Get the cash while you can, destroying what radio should be.
I never thought I would see the day when non-com actually started growing. But it is. Thanks commercial radio! It's because of you that we can pay our bills.
