WEBN Plays Johnny Cash

I found it funny hearing Johnny Cash on WEBN this afternoon at around 12:30pm. I never in my Life would have exspected to hear Johnny Cash on WEBN.

I'm guessing it was the track "God's Gonna Cut You Down"? I have heard this track on several alternative stations over the past month or so...including EBN's sister station in Pittsburgh.

Actually, the Johnny Cash track EBN played today was "Get Rhythm"

It is not the first time a Johnny Cash has been played on WEBN. Back in 1969, When WEBN was a much different station than it is today, I remember hearing the song "Wanted Man" played from the San Quentin album. Of course back then, you could hear an eclectic mix of songs, from Janis Joplin to Herbie Mann to Peter, Paul & Mary with an occasional comedy track from The Conception Corporation.

WEBN could have a tough year with or without Johnny Cash.

Regular WEBN listeners know that this is just something that happens every Thursday during the noon hour. Mr. K plays a new song, and listeners call in to play "Smash, Trash or Johnny Cash." They vote on whether they like the new song, hate it, or would just rather hear some song by Johnny Cash. About every 3rd week, Mr. K will play a Johnny Cash song. It's just a joke.
