With so much focus on radio website content - are local radio stations "watering-down" the radio product? ???

I don't think so. The website is an extension of the radio station, it is how to stay top of mind and interact with your listener and keep them 'tuned in' to your product either online, mobile or broadcast. Until PPM hits SA/ATX, it's all about staying top of mind and we know that your listener is online checking email, IM'ing their friends/co-workers and so forth, and we should be there to not only offer ways for them to communicate with our brand all over it, but give them what THEY want. The more you have to offer to them, the better. That's how you win!

This is very true. Also don't forget that websites also provide a small stream of revenue as well with all the advertisements. If a radio station can get businesses to sponsor everything the webpage has, the webpage should pay itself and more. From live streaming (I'm not talking about ads in the stream, but a sponsor for the stream) to a live chat room, a webpage is not a bad investment.
