Websites

There's been a fair amount of discussion about station websites here on the board, but not much about individuals' sites. So...which area radio personalities have their own sites and which ones are good..or just "lame?"

Opinions ??

You'd probably find more of this stuff on myspace.com by experimenting with jocks'names. Frankly, not to sound too old school but I can see personal websites if you're marketing yourself for vo's,etc but people in general (not just jocks) with their own websites. Never mind. I won't even give an opinion. On second thought I will. Maybe some think it's a way to interact & get close to their listeners but frankly I think it's dumb unless the listeners are so young & gullible that they're into this.

Just for freakin once I'd like to go back to the future with no internet, websites, myspaces, etc & see how some people in radio or life would even survive without a mouse. Can you tell I've had an irritating day? I rarely get ornery on these boards so now that it's out of my system I'm OK you're OK.

I whole-heartedly (yet respectably) disagree with Jock Itch. I think that's "old-school" thinking. But times have changed. And the internet has BOOMED. Jock websites can be (and I stress CAN BE) a great way to connect with the listeners... or at least give that "old-school" sense of LARGER THAN LIFE. It's tougher to get that nowadays. It's always been smoke and mirrors - all around - and we have to stay on top of what is new and hot... or be left behind. That's my opinion at least. Now - back to the topic - (not so much My Space, but) which area jocks have impressive websites?

Billy Costa has a good site and the Matty in the Morning show has their own website too. John Depetro has or had a nice site but never updates it anymore.

Some stations have links to dj's personal webites on the station's site.I don't see much if any of it in Providence. As Jock Itch said I can see it for business purposes obviously or if a station wants a team like Paul and Al or Quinn and Cantera to promote the morning show heavily as a separate entity because of its popularity but I think the bulk of the radio community might laugh at the prospect of it for your average dj whose website claim to fame is blogging to let the teens know the last time he shopped at Abercrombie and Fitch.
