WEBY 1330

Listened to the station the other day. Actually sounds good, pretty good signal too. Who owns it, what is the stations history & COL.

WEBY is licensed to Milton, FL. I believe they recently upgraded to 25 kw-D and are also
directional, at least in the daytime.

The owner is Spinnaker Licenses, and is operated by Mike Bates. I don't know anything about either that company or Mr. Bates.

It's been running at WEBY for quite some time. I believe it was once WSWL back on the early 80s.

This was one station I never could hear since WCVC in Tallahassee is also on 1330. WCVC has been silent
since last October..but I believe it may be directional away from our 1330.

WEBY's new signal is very strong in Pensacola. It doesn't exist in Fort Walton any more but they claim, on air, that they have listeners all the way to Slidell, Louisiana.
The owner Mike Bates is frequently on the local morning and afternoon talk shows.

Zack has a brief history of the station on his site.

I don't recall WEBY having any other call letters. WSWL were the calls for Pensacola's 790 AM for many years.

I can get them audibly though faint here in Hattiesburg, when I get in a mood to listen to Boortz, I usually listen here instead of WIST-690 because of (believe it or not) signal quality. I believe Mike Reagan is on live there too.
