WECK selling spots at $9.99

I thought I was back in the 1960's for a minute. $9.99 a spot, and that was advertised in an ad in today's Buffalo News. Dick must be getting desperate, or having trouble paying the electric bill? Things are tough, but you are really debasing your station at that price. Just sayin.
 
For that Ten dollars, what do you really get? Your voice telling people to come to your business?
Or something in house more professionally produced?
The one word I'm looking for here is..."FROM"...
(also because some spots might be good to go for a higher rate, where possible...)

It may not be that crazy. Being a small broadcaster is not easy. You don't get the attention of national agencies, and often are not on the radar of large enterprise buyers. This leaves the opportunity to serve small businesses that cannot necessarily afford prime time on WBEN or one of the large signals with higher CPP.

WECK's operating costs (including any debt) are likely modest. If they sell 70% of their schedule from 6a - 7p assuming 8 minutes of inventory: 365(d) x 13(h) x 8(m) x $10 x 70% = $265,000. That leaves you with a respectable income for a stand-alone AM station. (yes, there is a translator.... but we are not talking about a Class A FM signal).

If you look at 30s instead of 60s, weather sponsors, and other features - you could have $600,000 of top-line revenue. $600,000 for a 1KW Graveyard channel is VERY good. $9.99 may not be so crazy and it serves potential clients that may not have access to our medium.

My information is that you have to spend $1,000 to get that rate. And Mike Melody will do the spot at no extra charge.
