If you haven’t noticed, personnel changes are happening everywhere at every company. You don’t seem to mention other stations that are either letting go personnel, or they have none to start with in the first place.
105.3 W287CV is WEBR’s translator. This is a move from a "big station"... one with significant ratings, 3 FM translators and an AM signal. This is a move to a Niagara Falls station, not really covering the Buffalo core. And it appears to not have a translator.
This is sort of like moving from a job at Macy's to one at a thrift store.
Good to know. What does it cover? Is it listenable in the city of Buffalo area, or just "up north"?105.3 W287CV is WEBR’s translator.
The translator gets "half-way" into north Amherst. Nowhere near the City of Buffalo. It was the translator for WLVL Lockport, but the owner of WEBR bought WLVL basically to get a translator for WEBR.Good to know. What does it cover? Is it listenable in the city of Buffalo area, or just "up north"?
I suppose it gets a lot of listening in those local Big Yellow Taxi cabs...The translator gets "half-way" into north Amherst. Nowhere near the City of Buffalo. It was the translator for WLVL Lockport, but the owner of WEBR bought WLVL basically to get a translator for WEBR.

The reality is that neither WEBR or WLVL is a Buffalo station. The translator was originally WLVL's. The combo does a nice job of covering Niagara County, which is where they're licensed. Any pretension of competing in the Buffalo portion of the market is a pipe dream. Concentrating on Niagara Falls, Lockport, the Tonawandas, and perhaps East Amherst is where their potential audience is. Their actual competition is the Niagara Gazette and the Lockport Union-Sun and Journal. Businesses up there by and large aren't going to pony up Buffalo radio rates. Local advertisers may be willing to buy radio spots targeted at their local audience at small market rates.Good to know. What does it cover? It is only at 53 meters, and directional. Does not look great on a map.
It’s a teapot at best. Nobody even knows about it. They have different pds and slogans every other day, and ALL of their staff have reached out to me to get out of thereGood to know. What does it cover? Is it listenable in the city of Buffalo area, or just "up north"?

So you never replied. What personnel changes at WECK have there been over the past 5 years? The reality is that neither WEBR or WLVL is a Buffalo station. The translator was originally WLVL's. They are not even yellow taxis. They are slobs cars that drive around. Uber and Lyft employ far more local people than than these tin cansI suppose it gets a lot of listening in those local Big Yellow Taxi cabs...
When the “owner’ wants to get serious about radio, he should talk to the guy who has 5 powerful metro translatorsThe translator gets "half-way" into north Amherst. Nowhere near the City of Buffalo. The latest slogan is 'Hits of the 716'. This further shows you what the problem is with this station. Yuhnke needs to get over his 'Buffalo-envy' and become a community focused Lockport-Niagara Falls station. Leave Buffalo to the big boys! It’s a teapot at best. Nobody even knows about it. Hard to tell since I listen infrequently. Your website still lists "Buffalo's Oldies Station" from 3pm-Midnight, and nothing after midnight, so I'm not sure who's on then. I do recall when you used to look down your nose at voice tracking. Apparently, that's now a big chunk of your schedule. It’s a teapot at best. Nobody even knows about it. Ok. But you said “WECKage”, not me. Take responsibility. You said “looks like more personnel changes at WECK” when there have not been.Hard to tell since I listen infrequently. Don't try to make me out as a hater, Buddy. You've done well, and it's admirable. Have all of your moves worked out? I think there are some blemishes on your track record, and some times when you were less than diplomatic in casting aside people you hired. You're a mover and a shaker, and some people don't appreciate being shaken. Overall, though, you've surrounded yourself with some great people, and your stations have done well. I wish you success in a tough business.
I could have bought both those stations. I passed. They would have to pay me to buy them..... who will make him an offer that will put his money-losing to an end.
Impressive, Buddy! You even have Moderator/Administrator David Eduardo finishing your sentences for you.... who will make him an offer that will put his money-losing to an end.
I am not "finishing" Buddy's thoughts. I simply see the market and the individual stations more in the way that Buddy does than the way that the bigger operators or, in the RadioDiscussions world, the way some posters here do.Impressive, Buddy!
