WEDG TV SPOT:

looks sweet, and included a grand prize of $5,000.
for the listener who had the winning spot !!!

it was also cool for people, whom took the time, to submit their
own commercials because it was a very clever way
to include fans of bull-radio, adam 12, shredd and ragan show, etc....
to tune into a radio broadcast when they announced the winning spot.
and, also makes the people who support bull/s&R that were
a part of some thing, even though, there could be only one winner!

a quick and effective radio promotion!!

any thoughts?

right now, i have the foo fighter's "All my life" hummmmin in my mind...

and no,i dont work for citadel, lol - i sincerely think this
was a great radio idea !!! that hit hard, and made the impact
that WEDG-FM wanted...with out doing much work
on their part, haha!

totally agree. great way to drive people to the web too to view all the entries. no work except for judging on edge staff.

I was hoping we'd go a whole week without anybody posting, that way, the board would take on the aura (if you could call it that) of the Binghamton board, which goes for weeks without posts. If ever there was one, here was a thread that NOBODY seemed interested in, the perfect thread to take the board's pulse rate down to the level of a Budhist monk immersed in meditation.

Ah, the lazy, hazy days of summer, as Sam Cooke crooned so elegantly, the days of soda and ice cream and beer. Y'know, there's a whole untapped vein of late 50's and early 60's songs that could be sampled and revived for the youngbloods here who delight in chronacling the every move and nuance of Zed 101 and Kiss 98 point fi... or is that niney eight point phi.

All this leading up to mention that any WEDG spot with Adam12 in it would apparently have to be revised. Word is, he's on his way to some market south of the Mason Dixon line. Mason Dixon here not being a reference to a jock but a geographical boundary that marked... ah hell, nobody's interested in Civil War history... the point is, rumor has Adam 12 headed for greener pastures.

So let the speculation begin as to what becomes of the 7-12 shift at WEDG. Is your pulse rate starting to quicken? Didn't think so.

You're feeling sleeeeepy, sleeeeeeeepy, sleeeeeeeeeeeepy.

I believe that would be Nat "King" Cole that did that song. Although the "oldies" station I work for doesn't play anything prior to '64 and that came out in '63.

Leave it to "9" to spark some life into a thread despite getting the details wrong. Ha!

It was Nat "King" Cole who sang that summer classic. As to "Oldies stations," how long before Buffalo again has an Oldies station on FM? Probably not "Oldies" as it was known on 104 and most likely, not anytime soon. But is it possible a Classic Hits station that offers music from 1964-1989, a 25 year span that would appeal to boomers and young boomers, might surface someplace on the FM band.

How about a future WJJL-FM? Just kidding, of course. If the "venerable" WJJL-AM could miraculously run their current oldies format on FM would they get any more listeners than their consistent "audience too small to measure" results? I don't live in Buffalo, but even Oldies diehards won't listen?
