Wednesday DX'ing

The radio dial around Janesville (in my car) was quite busy today. Most of the Rockford stations were loaded with static and most of the Milwaukee stations were non-existant or fighting with other stations. Unfortunately I was only able to get and ID on one station:

97.9 WJBQ Portland, ME "Q97.9"

At first I though the calls were WDBQ from Dubuque but thats 107.5 and there isn't a 97.9 in Dubuque anyway. After about 10 minutes of searching on my cell phone I figured out it was WJBQ. I haven't gotten a catch this far away in a good 10-12 years when i pulled in stations from Salt Lake City and Grand Junction Colorado. Those stations came in for hours not just minutes.

Wow, that is great bounce for FM. I'm lucky to pick up the Milwaukee FM or Chicago FM in South Milwaukee, course i live right next to the airport. When i lived in Arizona you could pick up L.A FM in the Western part of the state.
