WEDW FM

WEDW has been on the air in the Stamford/Greenwich area on 88.5 since the early 90s. When they began, they promised local programming. They even had an office in Stamford.

Since then, the office has disappeared and no locally originated shows have come from the radio station.

I seriously doubt that any support for this station comes from Southwestern Ct. All of the programming originates from Hartford. Much of the underwriting announcements come from outside the greater Stamford/Greenwich area.

I feel this frequency should be populated by a broadcaster that would do something with non commercial radio and not use it as a way to please some egos at Connecticut Public Radio.

Believe me, I know. I worked there part-time for 4.5 years and we were out there covering local events in and around lower Fairfield County. The studios were in the Rich Forum actually the Culpepper Communications Center in Stamford. The XMTR is in the Shippan area of Stamford and is on top of the WSTC/WKHL tower.

In 2000, Hartford (WPKT) shut down the Stamford news office but the station is still on. The only place for local news would have to be WSHU 91.1, 1260 AM or its many translators. The woman I worked with as my News Director, Tandi Wilder, is now ND at WSHU.
