Broadcast mainstay Bill "Wee Willie" Webber joins Vineland's WVLT (92.1) today as the station creates a six-hour Sunday block of "standards" music, in the style of the old WPEN. Webber takes over Sally Starr's old 3-to-6 p.m. shift, following WPEN alum Andy Kortman's noon-to-3 p.m. show.

Plus The Geator and RJ. Old radio people don't die; they go to Vineland.

Now, they've got a schedule with everything but the kitchen sink. If they could sell an hour to some local plumber for a brokered advice show, they'd have the kitchen sink, too.

Webber to 'VLT was maybe the worst kept secret I've seen in my short time in the biz. Fo what it's worth, in the weeks leading up to the "official" announcement, 'VLT's website had a picture of Webber with his face covered up by a circle and question mark. This was the station's attempt at trying to tease website viewers about the pending arrival. Now, that wouldn't be such a bad thing, except for the fact that if you had right clicked the image and clicked properties they never bothered to change the filename of the original photo (BillWebber.jpg or something). Of course, it's not like it's hard to have picked out who it was. Few people have the physical traits of "Wee Willie", but eh.

I'm sure Bill's going to do a fine job, and I personally wish him nothing but the best.

To My Friend Jim: BILL WEBBER has been waiting in the Wings Since Early last spring until SALLY STARR annonced her retiterment which was decided in August. Then Bill agreed to Join WVLT.
I wish BILL well also !!! He has a lot of Sponcers Lined up from his WPEN Days.

Aha! Another weekend brokered show on WVLT as Wee Willie joins Hyski, The Geator, RJ and Andy Kortman in the world of pay to play radio. But - what the heck - The Geator has shown you can make more money that way than as a station employee providing you can sell your own sponsors. And semi-retired jocks with a blast from the past is a heckuva lot better than bowel cleanse and all the other infomercials running on weekends.

The good news: You could be on the radio next week.
The bad news: It will cost you.

In a way, this is a return to those thrilling days of yesteryear in radio, when advertisers owned, controlled and provided programming and broadcasters just provided air time and facilities.

Let me make this clarification in the event of any confusion. Hy Lit and HyLitRadio syndication provisions require an ancillary and compensatory arrangement with the subscribing stations to provide specified compensation to HyLitRadio.com Inc., commensurate with the accommodating broadcast and programming arrangements. The time frames for implementation and programming accommodations are clearly dictated and specified by the subscribing station as per agreement.

I follow my honorable friend. I'm just saying the way it was promoted on their website was just craptacular.

Thank you for clarifying the clarification.

Not that you should necessarily believe it.
People in radio lie as a matter of course and sometimes just for fun.
Many radio people are as unwilling to admit to pay to play as high school guys are unwilling to admit to being virgins.

I don't deny that there are many people who lie in the business, Twinkletoes Flintstone. I just think this isn't one of those cases.
