WEEB-1300E

At midnight as expected WTMM-AM flipped to talk as WEEB (1300E). Its ironic that this station started out as
Country station WEEE in 1961. The call letters were changed to WQBK in 1970, and the format was flipped to MOR, but evolved to talk over the next several years. In fact, WQBK was a very highly rated talk station during the later 1970s, and the early to mid 1980s. The format was flipped to ESPN sports in 1997, and the call letters became WTMM at that time.

CHECK YOUR HEARING

Being accurate is not hard.

It is WEEV 1300 Eve

Just a brief correction to Time Traveler's post. I built Radio WEEE and did middays there for 2 year, and when we signed on in 1961 the format was MOR, not country. We did have a good ol' boy from Virginia named Charlie Huddle who did afternoons so it may have sounded a bit country.

Not being condescending isn't hard either....The fact is that I heard the legal ID at 1 and 2AM, with plenty of skywave interference, so it sounded like WEEB. As far as the format of WEEE goes, weren't they doing Country between 1965 and 1970? It sure sounded that way to my young (at the time) ears. But I didn't pay much attention to them either. They were just another local station that I would tune past, while channel surfing between WPTR and WTRY....

WEEB is on 900 in Southern Pines, NC(Eastern part of the state).. It isn't WEEV either./

1300 is still legally WTMM-AM. Their slogan, however is "Eve 1300AM"

Well...they have been using WEEV since Sunday night, as their legal ID!!!

Interesting....

I wonder if they are burying the WTMM-AM ID's in somewhere that you can barely here, to keep it legal..

Can't you just say you made a mistake? Just because the CDBS isn't updated doesn't mean that it isn't legal. Saying they bury it is where you can't HEAR (not here) is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. I'm not trying to sound mean but that is just a sign of not knowing what you are talking about. You can go to the FCC site and have your new calls be active whenever you want.

The slogan is 1300 Eve by the way.

Can't you get anything right? I don't dare look at your blog...I'm sure it is a nightmare of information that isn't near accurate.

Just say you were wrong!

Chill out, I was just making a speculation.

ANd yes, I used the wrong "hear/here". .big deal, I made a mistake. I'm far from perfect.

Well, i stand corrected.... sorta. They weren't WEEV when I checked yesterday, but they are now...... soooo sorry for being wrong.
