102.3 - Weed has filed to sell and transfer the station -- to the new owners of the 103.9 Yreka. Locals claim -- that the new owners are very "red" Tea Party members but most likely will try to continue to bite away at KZRO 100.1 Dunsmuir - by "copying" the same type of Classic Rock music format but with more "red" talk programming. The new "Buffalo" owners have filed to change the 102.3 calls to K-SIZ and drop the KCWH calls -- but that was 30 days ago. The 314 transfer application was filed over 60 days ago - and NO objection has yet been filed. The main transmitter for 102.3 has been silent for over 3 years with only the low powered 99.3 local Mt Shasta translator being "on the air" as the only signal. The Yreka area translator - has also been silent for most of the last 3 years.
However -- the pending sale - may just slip by the FCC.
Yes. Sale was approved and call sign is now K-SIZ. Almost no ads and a poor copy of the Z-100 format. No sizz -- just fizz. Owner should change format -- or name of campany to Buffalo Chips broadcasting.
Is Rush Limbaugh still running on this station middays? It seems pretty dumb to compete with Z100 like that. Perhaps it could make a decent AC outlet for that part of Nor Cal
