WEEI Adding FM Simulcast Monday

Here are the last 3 months ratings for 93.7 and 104.1:

WMKK-FM 2.8 779,300 2.9 807,800 3.2 846,100
WBMX-FM 3.4 945,300 3.3 1,034,700 3.2 967,900

For Entercom to blow up 93.7 and turn it into an FM simulcast - what would keep CBS from blowing up Mix and make it an FM version of WBZ 1030?

Mike FM listeners - where will you be going to? 92.9?

Also WAAF's ratings (97.7 & 107.3) are pretty much equal with WMKK and WBMX (less cume)
WAAF-FM 2.9 569,500 3.1 577,500 2.6 590,900 Rock Entercom

Why would you need to put WBZ-AM on an FM station when it is the most powerful station?

Where would FM reach that it already dosen't ?

And very high ratings, I might add.

You wouldn't need to, but was (attempting to) comment on the other CBS stations in other markets flipping their Newstalk and Sports stations to FM (Recently silencing KUDL in Kansas, WYSP in Pennsylvania, etc.) CBS already has a sports station on FM here - maybe that is enough

Somewhere, way off in the distance, you can hear Bob Nelson cheering.

I did get a chuckle when Laurence posted this on the other thread "Postal employees who still have jobs may be able to hear Red Flops games more clearly at their workplace."

If I'm not mistaken, Monday Night Football is when the Pats kick off their season and that happens to be carried by Westwood One, now available on WEEI AM & FM

Will the WEE-FM calls come up to Boston from RI? Will MIke FM be on 107.3 and 97.7 HD-2? Will WBOQ 104.9 carry the Sox next year. Any more games on WRKO when in conflict?

Somewhere...Curt Gowdy is happy to have Sox games on WCGY! :)

Will be interesting to see how this works out.

Does 93.7 cover spots where EEI drops out? Or, is this simply a fidelity issue?

I missed the Curt Gowdy connection. Nice catch.

Fidelity is probably the biggest difference but put the north skew of 93.7 with the south skew of 103.7 in RI and I'll bet that gives them a bigger coverage area than 98.5. I'm sure the engineers on here will disect the coverage.

stand under arc lamps at Fenway.. or 600V train lines above commuter rail. plenty of places where WBZ gets buzzed into nuisance-audio

850 has superb audio. the signal is 20KHz wide and sounds as good or better than Comcast's audio during celtics games.

The 850 night signal in MetroWest is terrible. This will put WEEI's signal a lot closer to par with 98.5's signal in that area.

Taylor on radio-info said there's nothing wrong with 850's signal. Ahem! PLENTY wrong which is one reason they're doing this! (That and maybe some...programming moves?)

That 95.9 actually booms all the way into the White Mountains of NH, as does 96.3 (the jab) which gets the sox games while 95.9 keeps sports talk on (assuming there was a long term deal with the jab before WEEI got 95.9, but I'm sure they'll take it back when the deal is up).

And yeah, this will help people like Raccoon who can't get 850 at work on the north shore at night.

Surprised they wouldn't put Mike on 97.7, but keep WAAF on 107.3 here.

The article says Mike won't re-appear, but who knows.

I'd say move it to 97.7 with WAAF on the HD2 and keep WAAF on 107.3 with Mike on the HD2, thereby covering most of the eastern part of the state between FM, HD, and those die-hard Mike fans (there must be somewhere) can at least get it on HD or online if the FM is out of their range.

Better than just killing the format I say by looking at their numbers, not that I've ever listened.
