WEEI and the Celtics

I know that today is NBA draft day, but it seems that all of a sudden, WEEI is covering the Celtics with reckless abandon. I know that WEEI won the broadcasting rights to the team, but enough is enough. WEEI's personalities admit that the general public is not interested in the Celtics. Moreover, the Red Sox are having a potentially historic season. For a station that used to spend the majority of the non-baseball season talking Red Sox, WEEI has been a disappointment of late. I wonder if the latest trends will reflect that.

there's a lot of interest in this year's NBA draft and the Celts' moves in particular. A little diversion from SoxPatsPatsSox is welcome... the Ray Allen deal is controversial and controversy brings in callers. There's speculation about what other deals are going to happen. I don't notice any shortage of calls about the Celts... if the programs are, indeed, caller driven, then they're doing their job. Mix it up a bit.

Until the Celtics WAKE THE [EDIT] UP ! AND "FIRE DANNY STRANGE" ! The Celtics will always be The Detriot Lions of Basketball . Why didnt anyone on WEEI staff said anything bad about this awful Deal ( Dont want to lose The Celtics contract ) ? Thank God , the listening public , called in , and told WEEI , that this trade really S/cks ! Ray Allen is old and with one good leg, and he is walking though that door !

[EDIT-profanity]

And if WEEI was talking all about the Red Sox all day someone would complain too. Not that it would be a bad thing now. Its sports and whats popular for that day will be talked about. Take a look at ESPN on TV during a certain day. When the baseball story about steriods got out that was a major topic on ESPN for that day.

Rightchu are Ken (sorry, had to do my MXC impersonation...)

Anyhoo, Yes, people would complain if they went back to talking all Sox. However, it would be few and far between. Boston is a baseball town. the Pats are hugely loved, and the Sox still have a bigger draw (actually that's my opinion...not sure if it's concrete that they have a bigger draw....)

But I agree, I know the Celts are big right now, and it's Mahhhch Madness, but it seems like they have spent 98% of the time talking about basketball. Even when they had Buckley and Lou Melroni on, the majority was basketball...

Before the Kevin Garn YES Deal , Danny Ainge should had been Fired . Look like Danny Ainge save his job and me ( Die-hard Celtics Fan ) from jumping off the Tobin Bridge . I love old post , Lets bring back all old subjects .

When Ainge took over the Celts were a complete mess with very little future. It took a long time for them to get that bad, but people expected Ainge to turn it around overnight. The NBA's salary cap and restrictions on trades make any sort of rebuilding difficult. He stockpiled enough young talent to make all of the deals that have put the Celtics back on top. I think he should be executive of the year ....hands down.

Sorry, Danny didn't tell me his long term plan. I guess I should have asked you.
