WEEI-FM Audio Level

Has anyone else noticed that the audio level on WEEI is very low compared to all other stations? I think it's quite dramatic, and when tuning away from them to another station, it can be quite an experience! It'd sure be nice if they could fix this.

I agree. Driving back from Boston every day, I'll switch from their AM station to 103.7 and I have to turn up the volume alot. But when the commericals kick in, sometimes they will come out blaring. Don't they have a live board op there during the day? Can't realize that it is coming in soft to pot up higher? Also, I have an issue with their automated EAS system that will go off in the middle of a conversation.

As with most simulcast stations/satellite stations, they run the EAS as it comes...they do have a f/t board op; but it does not seem like it has anything to do with podding up, maybe the transmitter might need to be tweaked with a little more oomph...

They don't have a board op in providence? Are you kidding me? The run a simulcast studio out of who the hell knows where to comply with FCC regulations, everything else is controlled from Boston. Someone needs to walk into said closet and bump up the audio level, but god knows the last time someone was in there...

Seems to me they at least have a sales office somewhere in Providence, and a Prize Closet for the Sports Boys and Girls when they do stuff around the Southcoast..but I think the only time there's a live body is when they're running Providence Basketball...spots are joined in progress from the Boston feed on a daily basis..

I'm sorry, what part of my post above is confusing where I say they DO HAVE A F/T BOARD OP!?! ???

WEEI-FM DOES in-fact have a staff of full-time board operators.

Well then, they obviously don't pay attention or don't care to what the station sounds like. I guess they just sit there to collect a check when they could actually make the FM station sound better.

I was home sick yesterday and actually heard the level rise during Dale & Holley...I have a feeling that the transmitter might not have been pushing as much juice (possibly for some maintanence issue!?!)
