The Providence numbers are being held, but interesting to note that EEI-FM showed up in the Boston, Hartford & Cape Cod numbers 12+. Wonder what it looks like in Providence?
 
103.7's numbers in the Boston book are probably even higher than the ratings indicate. Most people probably just write down "WEEI" which would go to 850. They probably should just be listed as WEEI-A/F.

j, while I agree they might be slightly higher, it probably isn't too high as you start to have a wavering signal once you are past Attleboro and they have the Worcester and Springfield stations to pick up the western part of the state and 103.7 doesn't creep mugh farther north than Hartford (I couldn't get 103.7 much past Worcester and was scraping just to get that on a trip to Vermont up 146 to the Mass Pike....it was much better on a trip last weekend down to NYC (especially seeing as the transmitter is in the southern part of the state)....
 
Well I know there are a lot of people over here in Plymouth county (in the Boston market) that listen to 103.7, myself included. So many cars these days have poor AM radios, that even 103.7 with some static sounds better than 850. It's also great being able to put on 103.7 with a radio with RDS, and see the score of the Sox game right away.

Looking back, what a terriffic pickup 103.7 turned out to be for Entercom/WEEI. Granted, the Boston Phoenix folks had the idea first, but they didn't do such a great job of execution (otherwise, they would probably have kept the property).

Wonder if, based on the success of 103.7, Entercom might entertain the idea of adding to thier (so far) cluster of one?

I know they are actively looking for a station or 2 in neighboring CT and in NH and Maine to "complete" their coverage of New England....Springfield does a good job of covering Vermont; but maybe there as well. Past experience in RI w/ Howie Carr syndicating on PRO shows that Boston talk does not necessarily mean it will work throughout New England (another good example of this was Matty in the morning's attempt to syndicate New Englad from Kiss 108.

There are a few who can do it (see Stern, Imus, O&A) as they don't make the program a local program; but make it a generic location; but make it fun and interesting. At least w/ Imus & Stern & O&A, they are in NYC and can grab people going on GMA, TODAY, LIve w/ Regis & Kelly, Late night w/ Conan, Letterman, etc...not the same in Boston.

I think Entercom is happy with the current arrangement and will continue to strengthen what they've got first....
 
WEEI just announced today that they will be carrying Providence College basketball on EEI-FM this winter, which should further boost the Providence numbers. Good pick up.
 
Who will do Celtics on EEI-FM when PC is on. Also, where will BC Basketball this fall? Was on 850 and sometimes on 103.7 last year.

Can't speak for BC Basketball, but one can only assume that PC Games will take priority on EEI-FM this year, with Celtics games airing on the nights PC doesn't play, which I believe is only thursday through sunday for college right?
 
Looks like there's about 6 dates with overlap, EEI did announce PC Friars would take precedence. The deal was obviously in the works before the Celts began to make headlines. EEI announced when PC was on 103.7, the Celtics game could be heard on 850am. Not sure what that does for those South of Providence.

The possibilty another station picks up the Celtics? I mean before EEI-FM took over Red Sox, there were other stations carrying it. It may prove profitable for another station to pick up the Celtics, with the interest they've garnered.

In 2 words....NO WAY! Entercom just got the rights this spring...in no way are they going to allow another station/company compete with their new acquisition....
 
Entercom had the rights last season, it was carried on WRKO in Boston and WEEI-FM was an affiliate. There was no other affiliate in RI or even CT. No interest. This year, WEEI-AM flagships the Celtics for Entercom, and WEEI-FM will be an affiliate once again. No reason for another RI station to pick up programming, but maybe something to think about for an Eastern CT station... I'm sure Entercom would be happy to pick up the affiliate.
 
Right; but Entercom re signed the deal this past spring, which is why it will be on WEEI-AM. It was on WEEI-FM last yr and the Springfield & Worcester stations, so most of Ct will be covered....I bet they do have affiliates throughout CT....the network isn't up to see who is where...

Not for 6 games....like I said...either join in progress or play tape delay for those 6 dates
 
I love WEEI but I still dont understand why a music format, didnt work on this power house signal .
