WEEI-FM drops an F-bomb.

Did anybody hear the Whiner Line on WEEI-FM Friday afternoon?

The guy who does "Butchie from the grave" used the word 'f---ing' and it went straight through over the air. Ordway then said that he wondered if the board op in Providence caught it in time. (He didn't.) I wonder if anyone will get fired over this one, or if Entercom will get one those brand-new $500K fines the FCC is handing out.

Only if there is a legal complaint to the FCC. I'm surprised WEEI-FM uses board-ops, if this is true. I would have thought they would have one GM or program director and a secretary just to answer the phones.I can't see them having much more than that and a sales person or two.

Maybe then they'll have to pay the fine, and sell 105.5 in Springfield to someone else to pay the fine so we get a decent station instead of "EEI" on FM out here like being planned for May.

I wish they were still a rock station like they were before the 'FNX simulcast came around. As for the ratings, part of that has to do with signal issues in Providence since their transmitter is down in Exeter. I tried their station inside the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday night and was so-so. The real struggle was WSKO-FM 99.7 of Wakefield/Peacedale. Now there's a station with a crappy Providence signal! <P ID="signature">______________

Re: WEEI-FM kicks A$$ in R.I.

Not to deny sports fans their outlet, but when are we getting too much of a good thing? It's too bad WSKO AM & FM couldn't have been bought by WEEI, leaving 103.7 to fill some music void that won't be crowded out by WHJY or WBRU like before. Sports is a runaway hit on AM at WEEI-850 in Boston. Is 790 that prohibitive to success? 99.7 could still cover 790's nighttime null in SW RI. Much of Connecticut covered by 103.7 has other Red Sox stations that actually sell the games there. Back to reality, I guess it's a matter of who owns what and perhaps my own bias against FM sports talk or 3 sports stations in one market.

I disagree. I think the FNX programming was much better. It was a pretty cool mix of different rock music. As stated in another post, it's too bad WEEI couldn't have bought 99.7 or even 100.3 for that matter and placed it's stuff there.
