WEEI - Hernandez coverage

Can't believe they had Sox game on when I got in the car to drive home. Are they not allowed to make an exception on such a big day? I immediately switched to Felger on 98.5 and have to believe the majority of the dwindling faithful following did the same.

I heard a boatload of coverage before and during the arraignment, then immediately following the sox game on WEEI. You're talking about tens of thousands of dollars lost if a game is skipped. That just doesn't happen.

Yeah, it was an interruption, but I don't think they missed any news by not talking about it. What about the thousands of baseball fans who didn't care about some football player's bad decisions?

Contracts gotta be honored etc unless they could have
bumped Sox to 850 (or 850 could have been used
to carry arraignment etc)...later 93.7 went with discussions on
the player's bad decisions ("Life's hard, kid. It's harder
when you're stupid."-- the Friends of Eddie Coyle

Would The Sports Hub make an exception if a big baseball story broke duing a Pats game?

All good points, however, Sox play 160ish games a year, plus preseason, what's so hard about telling people tuning in to flip over to 850 for AH coverage? If they could've put Salk on 850, it would've been a good utilization of both signals. The AH story was at a peak and people just leaving work at 5pm would be interested in hearing more. Not everyone had access to media during the workday.

WEEI did the absolute right thing in staying with the Sox. Sports station coverage of any crime is so loaded with stupidity and inaccuracy that it's pointless to listen, other than to commiserate with the poor, poor football team which is becoming increasingly known as a haven for thugs.

Worst of all the coverage was the incredibly stupid Gresh, Kraft family bum-kisser and clown who gets most of his sports knowledge by Googling Wikipedia. He and the rest of the jock sniffers were afraid to say the word murder when was pretty clear that's what Hernandez was facing.

Gresh kept using the term "expect the worst."

No. It wasn't the worst. The worst was someone being murdered. The fact that someone was charged with her murder is a good thing, not "the worst"
