WEEI making big announcement, today at 1:30

More than a few of us got suckered. It was just a promo for their football talk.

"TUNE IN TOMORROW at 7:30 am for an announcement that will CHANGE THE FACE OF BOSTON RADIO!!"

(7:30 a the next day)
"And here it is...we will be giving away tickets for No-one and the Nobodies! That's right, some group that hasn't
done squat yet but we're lucky enough to give you tickets for their show in...let's see, Northampton! That's
right, it's only a 2 hour drive but these tickets are free free free!"

Entercom happens.

Ya mean there are folks still listening to 'eei???

Sounds like they are using in house talent instead of paying for their guests. Any guesses on them taking an ad revenue hit now that there is a big dog in town??

When do the new ratings books come out?
I'm really curious to see what kind of effect 98.5 has/ is having on weei. Particularly felger/ mass vs the big show

what is up with EEI's audio? i thought it was my radio but on every radio i get distortion when frequencies peak...anyone else notice this?

No surprise announcement here...it's the real deal! The Arbitron Monthly Report for August 2009 (Thu. 7/23/09-Wed. 8/19/09) will be released later TODAY Thu. 9/10/09. The publicly released overall data (ages 6+) will be available on this site (& others) at 5PM Eastern Time. For those "in the business", I believe the data becomes available at 12 Noon Eastern Time.

...new post patriots program and NFL sunday. boring.

don't they already have that "real post-game show" with Pete and Smerlas?

This is the pre-game show that they've always had except they're changing all the players. Last year it was Felger, Tom Curran, Paul Perillo, and Steve Nelson. They're all gone. Now it's Dale, Holley and two other guys. In that the baseball show will be on for a few more weeks, I assume that Mutt and Bradford will be moving to afternoons. With any luck, this marks the end of Mustard and Johnson. Though I must say that 98.5 has had either Shaughnessy or D.A. opposite the Catfish and the Commie, so I haven't heard one minute of their train wreck.

Thanks for the links...could someone please give or link me to a description of just what exactly I'm looking at in the ratings grid report? For example, what is 'cume'?

The August book is in no way a fair comparison. 98.5 had been on the air less than two weeks at the end of the August rating period, so they're not going to show well this time. It's the coming months, as 98.5 firms up their on-air content and as the Red Sox wind down and the Pats and Bruins wind up, that we'll really see how well they do (minus, of course, some inevitable sampling of the new station by the WEEI faithful).
