WEEI on ESPN

SUNDAY's edition of ESPN television's "OUTSIDE THE LINES" examines the world of Sports radio, with a special focus on how ENTERCOM Sports WEEI-A/BOSTON have achieved success in the Boston Radio market.

Ironic since ESPN affiliation got pulled from WEEI, I believe, so they could go full time ESPN (except for Felger
and Red Sox preview shows) on 890..kinda plugging the competition.

Maybe its a move to make WEEI look bad, play some of the audio clips of Big O and Sheppard screaming at callers, play Dale's fit of rage from a while back, air 10 minutes of the dribble that was the Dennis and Calahan show(thank god Gerry's off for awhile, its somewhat listenable now) and you've got people thinking that its the worst sports station on the planet...

Yeah, ESPN is so concerned with their Boston radio affiliate that they're using a national Sunday morning show to lambast the competition. Rrriiggghtt.

I'm sure the show will discuss how intense sports markets are driven by the intense sports media outlets like 'EEI, 'FAN, etc. If I recall correctly, Ordway was pretty open about the fact that ESPN cameras were in studio to record the Whiner line a couple weeks back, he was inviting callers to be at their "best". I highly doubt ESPN intends to show any sports radio in a negative light seeing as they have their own network and stations.

I always find it humorous that you hear the same tough-guy-announcer character (I forget his name but know he's posted here) on WEEI and ESPN simultaneously when switching back and forth
