WEEI Patriots Monday AND Friday

According to the release below, WEEI will now host Patriots Friday in addition to Patriots Monday.

A few things...

1. This does not bode well for 890. I am sure Felger's constant bashing of the team did not help in negotiations. How long until this station is 100% national broadcasting?

2. Do D&C have to be a part of this? They do not know football, at all and have to talk to Vince Wilfork. That will be painful. Vince enjoys talking football on a very technical level. This is something D&C cannot do and do not have to do with Brady. With a guy like Brady, who is so engaging and is the "face of the franchise", they can get away with it. The casual listener/football viewer can understand what he does. Very few people can appreciate what a nose tackle does in the course of a football game. Ideally, he gets on with Fred Smerlas, a former nose tackle.

3. I like the guys that Dale and Holley are working with. They are all down to earth, easy to talk to guys. Not all are household names but carry themselves in such a way that listeners will like them. Also, Holley has a great rapport with the Patriots organization.

4. I love hearing Zolak on WEEI. He brings a lot to the table.

The WEEI access to the Pats is a quid pro quo with the Krafts for carrying the Revs. Since Kraft would have to be insane to trade WEEI Revs coverage for 890 Revs coverage, 890 was never in the picture, regardless of what Felger says or does.

2. Do D&C have to be a part of this?

Of course. Why would WEEI put Pats coverage everywhere but their AMD cash register?

Their knowledge of football is on par with my knowledge of brain surgery. That is to say, extremely limited. I can't believe I am saying this but I hope to hear more of JMP during that segment than D&C. Wilfork is a great interview but he has a great football mind and it is waste for even the average football fan to hear him interviewed by two people who can't tell the difference between a one gap and two gap nose tackle. (I am not saying that is prerequisite knowledge for anyone who likes football but for someone who is a professional to interview a nose tackle, they should be able to carry on a discussion about this like Holley, Smerlas, DeOssie, even Zolak or Big O.)

90% of football people (myself included) aren't knowledgeable about X's and O's football, and most don't want to be educated on it on their way to work. All they have to do is be engaging.
