WEEI... second string already...

okay ive heard this 'pete is a fumblemouth' stuff before. can someone expand on that? i think he does a good job on the flash and is a decent host.

granted he isnt a scholar. he probably isnt heading to the library after his shift.

but i like him, even though im a crap kickin' hillbilly.

I think he's a good announcer and is a capable fill-in. Where he annoys people is when he implies that he's something he's not. Just because he does a show with Smerlas and Deossie doesn't make him a former pro. By his own admission he's never played a sport above little league, and even that's in question. He tries to do this with all sports. He might get away with it if "EEI didn't have real pros on like Francona, Ainge, Bellichik et al. When he proclaims something as fact, most of us know that he doesn't know any more about it than the average fan. If he were a beat writer or play-by-play guy I'd respect his opinion, but he just reads scores on the radio. He's not in the locker rooms or at practices like Tony Mazz, Felger, Bradford, and others.

Are you joking with the not understanding the fumblemouth stuff? He consistently flubs athletes names. They even play cilps of him all the time getting cities wrong, mis-pronouncing names, and just plain messin' up.

he has a decent voice though. that is a csb trained voice! although i know someone who says he has a 'fat person's voice'. lol.

good point... but Eddie made his bones in the 70s with the Sports Huddle, which was one of the best sports shows in the history of Boston. The comedy bits on there were hilarious. Remember "Yawkey Jeans"? They came in "tight, extra tight and "oh my heavens did you see that?" sizes."

Pete has a good voice, his flash's are ok, he does stumble over himself sometimes during the flash at times.
When he's hosting he doesn't have the ability to stay cool at all, he's always getting into yellingm atches with callers or he threatens them with "wanting to handle it like a man?" sort of thing and if you're going to be in radio especially sports radio you have to have a thick skin.
He's not someone who can improvise or ad lib very well and gets exposed as not extremely prepared when he's on the air with the likes on Tony Maz or Sean Mc Adam.
Give him copy to read and he sounds great but otherwise he's average at best.

The headlines section of the show is what makes D&C most despicable. They use this as their opportunity to ridicule others and make fun of those who they feel are less sophisticated than they. (I didn't know that Chelmsford was such a cosmopolitan area.) According to them anyone with a southern or midwestern accent is an idiot. They should hear what the rest of the country thinks of Boston accents.

The headlines section is one of the chief reasons that I stopped listening to the show. It brings out the true colors of these three jerks. I've been a registered republican since Callahan's mother was changing his diapers. I agree with very little of his rhetoric. As a matter of fact it's shocking how ill-informed he is. Long live Imus!

...and ended his stint at EEI being a hateful, bitter old man who couldn't keep his feud behind closed doors and readily took it out on fans when Dale wasn't there in his feeble attempt at sabotaging EEI at every turn. He may be a "legend" in sports radio, but the last few times I listened to him before he left EEI, the end of his contract couldn't come fast enough. If he is as bright and business savy as he had led us to believe, he never showed it in his last dealings with EEI. I haven't listened to him since, nor will I ever again.

I agree. He was very difficult to listen to at the end. I used to listen on my lunch hour but after a while I couldn't take it any more. Everything was agenda driven. His "Yankee elimination party" in 2001 really made him look foolish after 9/11. His hatred of the Red Sox ownership was only because his guy didn't win the bid. As he became more and more irrelevant, he lashed out at everyone who didn't worship at his feet.

There used to a nice little sports show on WTKK on Sundays. When Eddie got his show on TKK, it had to go. One more reason to loathe this dinosaur.

here is a question for the 'eei experts...why are no weather reports given on the air? not even in the morning.

nor traffic. ESPN radio does that. They don't even give the time... it's kind of like Vegas. No clocks!

I agree how awful Eddie is now. I listened to about 5 minutes of the "new" Huddle awhile back. Oof... and the other show it replaced was definitely a lot better

... I won't even complain about Mustard and Johnson being on midday today. Except that, during the few minutes I listened, Craig was playing the "I'm not a Red Sox fan" card--which I'm certain is a contrived role meant to stir up the listeners--and bring out the Yankee fans

Because unless D&C (especially C) can tie the weather into a Repub cinderella victory or some destined Democrat defeat, D&C will never announce the weather. Unless of course it is about to screw up their tee time.

just curious who does the voice for the westwood one radio coverage...the guy who introduces the show 'youre listening to nfl football on westwood one...'

it is almost like a growl!

i tried to listen to the first game today. but dan reeves sounded like he had phlegm in his throat the entire time.

I don't know who it is, but he's also heard on monster truck commercials. He was also once the voice of 100.1 The Fox in Worcester, back when they were classic rock.
