Since I haven't been here for awhile, I was curious about people's thoughts on the two main sports stations here? Here's my armchair analysis, always subject to reappraisal.
Morning drive:
I lean towards Toucher and Rich when they stick to sports, although the only one with any in-depth knowledge is John Wallach. When they start talking about comic books or have one of their not-always-funny bits, I go to WEEI. I'll put on D&C occasionally (although they're, by far, my least favorite show on either station)unless they're in a political rant. And Kirk Minihane is quickly proving himself to be as insufferable as they are. The whole Erin Andrews situation didn't help. I'm not an Andrews fan--she's a lightweight--but there wasn't any need for the misogyny.
midday:
the MFP show is OK. I think Merloni is the weak link. Gresh and Zo are OK, as well, although Gresh's loudmouth act grates after awhile. They're knowledgeable, at least.
afternoon drive:
I think both shows are really good. I'm glad they reunited Dale and Holley. I love Felger and Mazz--my favorite show on the stations. They sound bitter and curmudgeonly but in a good way, if that's possible, and they get good guests. I find it highly entertaining and they know their stuff.
Evenings
I don't listen that much... I've grown a bit tired of Mikey Addams schtick. He doesn't have the depth of knowledge of the other hosts on the station.
... one comment about the late night shows--Scott Ferrall has one of the worst voices on radio. Unlistenable... Also, the voice imaging guy for CBS Sports Radio is terrible, as well. He talks like he's clenching his teeth and it also bears a bit of a resemblance to Mister Ed.
... and one question--did Jim Cutler return as WEEI's voice imaging person or is that someone trying to sound like him?
