WEEI's Teddy Sarandis leaving?

Still listed on the Entercom site is a posting for jobs at WEEI that reads thusly: On-Air Positions Sports Anchor, WEEI 850-AM: Sportsradio 850 WEEI, the nation's top rated sports station, is looking for sports anchors. Two full time positions and two part time positions are available. Duties include anchoring on air sports flashes two to three times per hour, reporting from various sporting events, assisting in producing remote broadcasts, and hosting sales/marketing appearances. Applicants need to have a minimum of 3 years broadcast experience in a top 50 market. Entercom Boston is and equal opotunity (sic) employer. Contact Information: Send tape and resume to Human Resources, Entercom Boston, 20 Guest Street, Suite 300, Brighton, MA. 02135. No phone calls please.

Shots reached out to WEEI’s Jason Wolfe to see what the positions were and, in turn, if the Teddy Sarandis scuttlebutt is true (Sarandis, it was reported last week by Jim Baker, is on his way out at 850). Wolfe did not return an email request from Shots, but we’d like to let him know that if he’s serious about getting fresh talent, we’d be happy to offer some names up. . . Just how equal opportunity can you be if you can’t even spell opportunity? That’s one for another day, eh? We’ll have plenty of opotunities for that.

Mike Adams please.

Mike Addams would be fun.

"o-POT-tunity" hmmm...I thought smoking was not allowed at 20 Guest St.?

Equal opportunity employer is right. Dennis & Callahan can make sport of ethnicity and still keep their job. Now that's an equal opportunity employer.

Mike Adams would be a great show...But for a night time slot, if they wanted to try "something different", the perfect idea would be a show called "The Sports Chicks" featuring Wendi Nix and Frankie Foxx. Wendi has done great on the radio when she's on the Big Show, and filling in for Dale a couple days. And hearing Frankie when she was on Star...you could tell she's a big sports fan and knows alot and I believe she would be great.

Mike Adams is better in the visual realm for short time spans.
his act grows boring after a while.
I find him to be very lacking on football matters.
Sox fans might like him on the radio saying "Yankees suck" 4 hours a day,I coudn"t deal with it.

The Sports Chicks is quite the bold idea.

Actually, there's one other lady who should be considered to co-host such a show: radio historian and onetime WCAS-740 air personality (circa 1973) Donna Halper.

Don't laugh. I have heard Ms. Halper call-in to some of WEEI's sports talk shows several times over the years, and she appears to be a quite knowledgable sports fan. Perhaps she could be teamed-up with either Wendi Nix and/or Frankie Foxx.

And perhaps the show should be titled "The Sports Ladies", because a trioka of Halper, Nix and Foxx (or any two of the above) would indeed be ladies.

disagree about Nix... she was good at first but her shows with Holley this week bordered on unlistenable... it's too bad the Globe writers can't be on WEEI because I'd much rather hear Jackie MacMullan on there...

Adams would be good on late-nights.

I agree about Jackie M. She is good, but if the Globe "ban" was lifted, we risk hearing Shaugnessy....UGH! LOL I also had another idea awhile back, before the ban....I am no fan of Callahan, so I would've "revamped" the morning show, put Meteparel with Dennis, and called it the "Deeno and Meter Morning Show, with Jackie Mac on The Flash" (hey.....I could be in programming LOL)

But as far as Joe G. comments, it should be kept as a local Boston personality, not someone from another city we haven't heard of.

You don't know what you're talking about. Nix is excellent when she
doesn't have to compete with the loud mouths on the Big Show.

Actually, Globe writers can be on 'EEI but Wolfie choses not use them.
Plus, Projo's sports section has been voted the best in the country
so why not roll with the best on most days.

There was no official Globe 'ban'. Entercom still buys print space in
the Globe and NYT co. runs ads on 'EEI and Entercom stations. Plus,
Globe owns 17% of the sox so there's already built in partnership there.
The 'ban' was a massive PR snowjob by 'EEI and everyone bought into it. As always.

With the C's coming back to Entercom, some of the Globe's b-ball writers such as Ryan, MacMullan or Peter May will be coming on.

Good for what? Vacuming the studio?
______________
"I am walkin' here!!!"

Yes, I am a radio sales weasel but there would
be no programming if it wasn't for loooong commercial breaks. Remmeber that!

oof... Meter is terrible, as well... smarmy and never actually gets to doing a 'flash,' i.e. giving the scores...

I sorta agree....like I said, I had that idea awhile back, like a year or 2 ago, I have rethunk the idea (is rethunk a word????) He kinda has to the "but eh, but eh, but eh" out of his vernacular LOL

As a former student of Donna's, I gotta wholeheartedly agree. I've also heard her on 'EEI and other stations over the years. She would truly add something other than novelty value.
