Weekend Air talent

While most bemoan the lack of live and local shifts on the weekend as a training ground for new talent, does live always mean better?

On Sunday afternoon I heard a "talent" on a local commercial station talk about the election in great detail for at least 4 minutes. Said things such as "while the political ads were a tune out", their consultant told them to not talk politics, they knew and quoting here "our TSL goes up when they talk politics". He then endorsed his candidate.

A weekend air talent talking about ratings, cume, TSL and more on a Sunday. When all I wanted to hear was a hit record.

Is anybody minding the store on these live and local stations?

I'm sure all stations have board operators keeping an eye on the stations to make sure they're up and running. No one should leave any operation unmanned.
