Weekend Anchor-Reporters

And indeed she did sign off for good at the end of the 12. Good luck to her - she was good.

I wonder who will be doing it next week. My first guess would be Linda Stouffer although she has been doing the Sunday evenings for a few weeks now since Anissa Centers left.

I think it will be Linda, or it could be Lori Geary or Pam Martin, I would have to think it would be a female! I wonder what has happend to Tiffani Reynolds? Anyone heard? Seems like 2 has gone to predomintaly male reporters lately? Anyone else noticed!

WSB has removed Anissa's and Amanda's names from the website but haven't moved any names up to the anchor spot. I guess they are going to keep us waiting so that we watch the newscasts.

Wasn't Gulstan Dart being groomed to be his successor a few years ago? If my memory is correct he had taken over the 5pm newscast before moving to Cox's station in Seattle. I am not aware of them giving a definite date on John's date or his plans.

You are correct. I remember when John retired from the 5pm, he signed off by saying that he agreed to do the broadcast on a temporary basis, replacing the retiring Don Farmer. I thought it was interesting at the time that when Gulstan left, John chose to return to anchoring the 5pm again.

I've enjoyed seeing Fred Blankenship anchoring in the evening, and I wish they would bump him up. Justin, while perfectly competent, is a bit of a snooze.

As for weekends, I think they should let Bachman anchor solo and ask Linda Stouffer to do weekend morning and noon in the interim, although I wouldn't mind seeing her anchor alongside Bachman...

It doesn't matter much now, Gulstan is now the main anchor at Hearst's NBC station KCRA in Sacramento as he left KIRO-TV in Seattle about a year ago.

Since Linda Stouffer has been filling in for Carol Sbarge all week, I'd be surprised if she does the morning weekend newscasts this weekend. If Linda is the replacement for Amanda we might have to wait another week to know for sure.

Yes - I doubt she'd do a week straight. They've bounced Linda around a lot since she started anchoring for WSB - filling in wherever they needed someone. The weekend morning gig seems like a natural place for her to settle in but we'll see.

Well we were wrong about that. Linda was in (and not "in for" anybody) this moning. I hope it's a permanent slot for her - she seems like a natural to replace Amanda. Linda's had a nice bounce back from being layed off by CNN. ;D

Yup, I was surprised to see Linda on seven days straight. I missed the morning and noon news this weekend. Was she anchoring?

I did notice that Lori Geary has anchored on Sunday evenings two weekends in a row. I guess they decided for now to still have a second anchor on Sundays because of the hour at 6pm. If Lori stays on the political beat, I imagine her schedule might change when the legislature is in session.

I didn't see the morning news (which I assume she did), but I did see her do the noon and evening broadcasts. And she did it again this past Sunday. I don't know why WSB thinks they need a second anchor on Sunday nights (primarily for the hour at 6pm), since Fred can do the hour at noon solo during the week.

I also wonder why WSB and WXIA have Brad Nitz and Chris Holcomb on both mornings and evenings on the weekend, but WAGA has Steve Milone and Joannne Feldman split the duties.

Channel 2 always used 1 meterologist for all the newscast on weekends. I guess they take numerous breaks

Brad seems to work all day Saturday and Sunday. And now Linda is working all day Sunday, though only the daytime Saturday. They don't work 5 day weeks since they're pulling the long shifts - they probably like that. Sure makes for a long weekend for them though.
