Weekend Block Party Mix is BACK!!! on K104

I was just listening to K104 today, and I heard that the Weekend Block Party Mix is back. It started at noon today with DJ Steve Nice. I'm glad he is back. The mix show is good so far. Later on, DJ Throwdown Sam and DJ Hollywood will be hitting up the turntables. I am glad the mixshow is back on K104. It is better than waiting until Midnight for a mixshow to come on and have it on from Midnight til Skip Cheatham and Da Playground comes on at 5:30 in the morning.

I could be totally wrong, but I think the Michael Erickson takeover has begun!..... They have been mixing since noon, and the way that they are doing it is smart. They will mix for about 30 minutes or so, then go into regular rotation for about 30 minutes, so everybody will be satisfied. Steve Nice put it down from noon until 4pm, then Dj Hollywood took over, and Throwdown Sam will take it to the house. I'm loving this sh!t!.......

Update: K104 mixed for 13 hours yesterday. I really enjoyed it. Now if Mr. Erickson can make some positive changes to KRNB, Service Broadcasting will have some very listenable stations once again.

I always thought it would be great if an Urban station mixed all day every Saturday(12pm-2am). People are out in the streets and Saturday is international party night!

This just in: K104 did it again on Sunday. The "Weekend Block Party Mix" was hot! DFW was on fire this past weekend. I just hope they keep it up. This is what the metroplex urban airwaves really needed.

Question is, how will Candy(-a$$) respond to this? The Beat is sounding pretty crappy right now.

Well, the Beat has always sounded pretty crappy to me compared to K-104. Hence the reason why all the Radio One stations except WERQ (92Q) in Baltimore sound like garbage in opinion.

My opinion, Radio One stations in Atlanta, Washington DC and Baltimore are great but the rest of Radio One stations are trash ( 1090 Boston is Sh-tty) .

Although their numbers say otherwise, Radio One has detroyed The Box in Houston. It will never be what it was when Clear Channel owned it.

KMJQ Houston isn't too bad, Good DJs, weekend mix shows and a Sunday oldies show. Maybe it isn't as good as it was back in the day but it is one of the better urban ACs I think, I'd definitely take it over the 2 in Dallas.

I do like Radio One's FM gospels quite a bit.

It is also true that they turned alot of urban stations with a proud heritage into pretty generic cookie cutter stations for the most part - see Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Cleveland.

I will admit that WKYS is sounding pretty good these days...
