Years ago I literally ran into Dewey Hopper. He and I were on opposing indoor soccer teams. It was quite the THUD!

He's a nice guy in person. Not so much as a weather entertainer on TV. Saw him both in PHX and Sacto. Same schtick.
 
Update: Holly Bock worked on Saturday.

She will be presenting weather reports for the "next couple of weeks."
 
Another dreadful weekend morning...Monica mispronounced three words in the 5 minutes that I was watching and then Holly gave a totally unimpressive forecast. I switched to the 8am hour of ABC 15 news.
 
This weekend, Michael Raimondi subbed for Kylee. I thought he and Monica were a decent pairing. For some reason, Monica actually was a bit...uh...quieter than usual. Perhaps they should keep Michael and Monica on the weekends and try Kylee on weeknights for a few weeks. Just a thought...
 
Serious question for those more in the know: what does management see in Monica Garcia? Seems the consensus here, and with others I’ve spoken with, is that she’s a really bad anchor and an even worse reporter. Maybe it wasn’t an option, but Ariannee LeBeau (pre NYC gig) or Emma Lockhart would seem to have been much better options for Monica’s role.

My only thought (and I might be totally wrong here) is perhaps a desire to have more Hispanic presence at the anchor desk. Javier would be the only other Hispanic anchor person.

OMG, Ariannee would have been a MUCH better choice!
 
I don't have bad feelings about Monica. I think she has room to grow and become better.

I remember Javier could not get through one paragraph without making at least one mistake.

I agree that some are better reporters and anchors, and vice versa.
 
February 19 & 20 was interested.

Saturday had Ian Schwartz "filling in for Holly Bock." Laughed as he said he worked for 6 straight days. On Thursday and Friday, Ian did the full 4:30 - 10AM weather segments. He said that April Warnecke would work Sunday.

And on Sunday April did the weather. And co-anchor with Emma Lockhart. Initially no mention why Kylie Cruz and Monica Garcia were off. April has said she does not like doing the news, so this must be a 'break glass' emergency.

*Change 1: Monica is out in the field reporting on an accident. Strange.

Truly strange! And GMAZ was quite weak this morning. April acted like she didn't want to be there and Emma was lost. I switched to 12 News at 8:30 - at least Tricia seems like a nice person.

That's because April didn't want to be there. She's made it clear that she doesn't like to read news. This must have been Emma's first anchoring job.

Who's assigning on-air positions? Pat Sajak and his Wheel Of Anchors? 🤣

Yes, I am aware that April doesn't like to "read news", but there is something called being "professional". IMHO, April was NOT on Sunday. At work, sometimes we have to do things that we are not totally comfortable with. It's not like they ask her to do it more than once every few years.

That said, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck seem to be assigning personnel (and I probably just insulted Donald and Mickey). What a mess they have at 3/5!
 
March 6: Monica is back! However she sounds horrible and IMO could use another day to rest her voice..

Kylee said she'd do most of the news reports.

I'm sure they have protocols on this. Especially since 3TV has gone back to normal anchor sitting spacing. They no longer need a wide angle camera to get both anchors in the same shot.

Weekend of April 2 - 3 was something.
  • Kylee Cruz back from honeymoon
  • No Monica Garcia
  • Emma Lockhart substitute
  • Since Holly Bock was doing evening weather, Kylee did GMAZ weather all weekend
  • Sunday morning was technical difficulties. They played the CBS national feed including Sunday Morning. Back online in 2 hours
