Weekend Syndicated Programming

I have just inheritated our Country station in our broadcast group and weekends need some help. I saw the Country Gold comment posted. Anybody have any weekend programming success stories? There is a lot out there. What is good.
Thanks!

Into the Blue (Bluegrass specialty)

I believe there is a country gospel show titled "God's Country" (it runs on WTHI-FM Sunday mornings) which I like.

You can affiliate with "The Big Time" with Whitney Allen for Saturdays only.

Stay far, far away from the Foxworthy countdown. Countdown shows are made to "shut up and play the hits", but Foxworthy tries to give it a "David Letterman" feel. Yuck.

I agree about the Foxworthy countdown. It's on the air locally. I find it unlistenable (not that I do much radio listening anymore, anyway.)

Without knowing exactly what you mean by "the station needs some help" and what you want to do, it
s not that easy to make recommendations to you.

Feel free to PM me and I'll share some ideas with you if nothing here is what you are looking for.

This is a slight detour from the topic but have the powers-that-be had any thoughts about recycling the old Bob Kingsley/Don Bowman countdowns, that way AT40 has been doing?

Whitney is best for Sat night.
Lon Helton and Bob Kingsley are the best for countdown.
Retro Country is a good 2 hr show if you are looking for a canned oldies show. REAL produced. Almost over produced but it is a good show.

The Sunday show on WTHI-FM mentioned above is The Gospel Greats with Paul Heil. They run it 7-9 Sunday morning. From what I hear they couldn't drop it or move it now if they wanted to. They tried to move it once and I think God himself was called in to mediate. Also they run American Christian Music Review Sunday morning which is pretty good and more "mainstream" than Gospel Greats.

Hi Folks, WWKO Radio , Fair Bluff, NC we run Country Gold, Country Oldies Show with Steve Warren (Envision Radio Network), Overdrive Magazine (Top Ten Country Countdown with Bill Mack, Great Stuff Bluegrass and Great Stuff Bluegrass Gospel. And of course Americas Opry Weekend (westwood one). We also run old time radio including Twighlight Zone Dramas check out our website at wwko1480.com glen

Westwood One has a good selection, CountryGold 5 hour show with Rowdy Yates .as some others were mentioned.I like Lon Helton's CMT Country countdown,Bob Kingsley was always on top.I never got a chance to sample Kix Brooks yet,CrankyYankee has a good idea of bringing classic ACC shows of Bob Kingsley and Don Bowman out of the vault like Premieres classic Casey Kasem's AT40's of the 70's and 80's,I love to relive them again like the old AT40's.
