Weekend Today........What was NBC thinking?

Erica Hill, formerly of CBS This Morning, took over as co host of Weekend Today. This move forced Jenna Wolfe over to the news reader desk. The tension on this morning's show was very apparent. If you recorded the show look at the body language.
Someone at NBC news made a decision that will hurt the Today brand. Your thoughts.............?

^I'm sure friends, relatives, and co-workers of Erica Hill and Jenna Wolfe care.

Anchor changes happen, it's the nature of the business. Considering that lots of folks in the Northeast lost EVERYTHING thanks to a b*tch named "Sandy", worrying about "tension" on the set of a network morning show is pretty minor and ultimately irrelevant.

I agree, who cares. There are much better weekend morning news shows out there...I thing GMA weekend is far superior.

One could tell that Jenna Wolfe was not a happy camper. Several times she made comments that could be interpreted as taking a "few pot shots" not only at Hill but Lester Holt as well.

Considering the nature of broadcasting in general, along with recent events at "The Today Show" perhaps Wolfe figures she is slowly being forced out of that weekend gig.

My advise to Ms. Wolfe is to either act like a team player until you find another job, or start sending out resumes ASAP if she is that unhappy with the new situation at NBC especially when it is quite evident to the viewing public.

I have to admit, I am a big Erica Hill fan, and there was a time when I couldn't tolerate Jenna Wolfe. That changed though, and I was quite disappointed to see her just doing news. Although, if they can keep her interacting with Erica and Lester while contributing more feature pieces it might be a nice fit.

Either way, I'm happy to see Erica Hill on the weekends again. She is a great talent.

What NBC executives were thinking is that Erica Hill might attract more people to the weekend version of "The Today Show".

As for Jenna Wolfe, I must agree with a few other posters that she didn't seem to be taking the change very well.

It would not surprise me if Ms. Wolfe decides to seek employment with another network in the near future.

After former “Weekend Today” co-host Amy Robach went to work for ABC News Jenna Wolfe filled in as co-host. It is very likely that Wolfe figured the job would be hers permanently

So you can imagine how Wolfe must have felt when it was announced that former “CBS This Morning” co-host Erica Hill, who herself was ousted from co-hosting duties by Norah O’Donnell, was named co-anchor for the “Weekend Today Show”.

As previously mentioned in an earlier post I noticed last Saturday that Wolfe’s on-air attitude reflected that of a person who was obviously upset with being removed from the hosting couch to the anchor chair.

Having worked in the news business for over 30 years, I honestly believe that Ms. Wolfe’s bosses called her into their office after the show ended and read her the riot act; most likely telling her to either accept the decision to hire Hill or leave the show.
