Weekly CAP Test

Apparently the nice folks over at FEMA forgot to send the RWT to the Eastern time zone this week. I checked with another station in a different part of my state and it was not received there, either. Both of our boxes indicated CAP was UP. I'll give them the rest of the week before I log it as missed, and go through the hoops of proving to the FCC my equipment was not at fault.

Did they remember to send it to the other time zones?

If a broadcaster were to miss sending their RWT, they risk sanctions from the FCC. What happens if the government misses sending a RWT?

The purpose of tests is to see if the equipment works. EAS can miss a test as long as you log that it was missed. If you miss 2 in a row, you should log that plus what's being done to resolve it. Your EAS gear can also be legally out of service for up to 30 days, provided it is logged, of course.

Understood. That's why I checked with another station on the west side of the state. I doubt we both had the same problem. I just checked with a third station on the east side (I'm in the middle) and no CAP RWT either. Of course I'll log the missed test, and next week's, too, if there is none. My point is when three different boxes in three different parts of the same state don't get the test, and the CAP logs show it is polling successfully, just no message for our state. That's why I was wondering if anyone in other ET states got their test.

From thebdr.net:

7/15/13 - Reports this morning indicated the Weekly test in the EDT zone went missing due to a programming error. The IPAWS CAP Server was up, but the EDT test was not sent. This has been confirmed with the FEMA folks.

We got it on the west coast.
