WEEKNIGHT OVERNIGHT SHOWS

"John and Jeff Show" -Genesis Communications Network
"Red Eye Radio"-Cumulus Media Network
"America Tonight" with Kate Delaney-Genesis Communications Network

I've listened to the first two, the current "Red Eye Radio" and when Doug was on there. It was better with Doug.

"America Tonight, I listened to bits and pieces from their Podcasts. I never heard that show; however I listened to Kate Delaney when she filled in on "Fox Sports Radio" She's awesome. I like her a lot.

Your Reaction about these shows please, especially "America Tonight" If you know of that show and know what are their normal topics, may you share it with us?

Thank you and have a nice one

I really enjoyed John & Jeff. It's one of those shows that could easily fit on a more "news and info" station or a "rock talk" station. Just a couple of guys, hanging out, talking about the hottest subjects of the day. Excellent.

WABB-AM in Mobile usually broadcasts "Red Eye Radio". I never heard the program over a long period of time to make a fair assessment and my interest in the program is not very strong. The last overnight program I heard frequently was "The Joey Reynolds Show", which was broadcast by WABB-AM years ago before it was replaced by "The Midnight Radio Network". "The Joey Reynolds Show" was one of the most positive discussion programs I ever heard on the radio (the other positive discussion programs were "Leo Laporte the Tech Guy" and "The Kim Komando Show").

thank you both for your replys @Mario 500 and Fljack2.
@Fljack2 I agree with you, I've been listenning to John and Jeff for the last few nights. It sounds ok. Not bad at all.

I wish I can hear how Kat's show sounds

But for now, Thumbs up for "John and Jeff Show"

My personal replacement for Doug McIntyre is Jon Grayson. His show, "Overnight America," airs out of St. Louis.

The show is syndicated to a handful of stations (including WBAL and a station in Boston.) Grayson grows on you. He has a low key sense of humor, covers a variety of newsworthy topics and doesn't do left vs. right political rants. This show would be a far better fit for former McIntyre affiliates that are now stuck with what passes for "Red Eye Radio" these days.

thank you @Wadio.
In Boston, WRKO airs the new "Red Eye Radio" that replaced Doug, you're right about that. It's not that good. They would've been better off with another show or Jon Grayson

I think "Red Eye Radio" is a prime example of radio management's reliance on branding over content. Doug McIntyre built a great overnight show that helped expand the affiliate list to over 100. So, on the assumption that the listeners (and the affiliates) are basically stupid, Cumulus figured, "Hey, we'll just slap the name "Red Eye Radio" on a completely different show and nobody will notice. Yeah, that's it!" Well, they may be right but in the long run I tend to doubt it.
