WEEU cut Bill Cunningham! WHY? (and other Sunday night rants)

I actually listen to the radio late Sunday nights, and last Sunday (2/8/09) imagine my outrage when I flipped on the radio at 11:00pm to NOT find Bill Cunningham, but a REHASH of Jack's Back Yard! What is the deal here? I have nothing against Jack’s Backyard personally, but come on! I really enjoyed Bill Cunningham, and am greatly upset to find that WEEU has dropped his program.

I emailed the station about it, but never got a response yet. But it really ticks me off because they have really wrecked their Sunday night line-up IMHO. Everything is fine in the afternoon, but from the hours of 7pm to 1am the next morning it's just all rehashes!

7 to 8 is just rehashed Lars Larson from the weekdays. 8 to 10 is Food Talk, even though the program is already played from 2 to 4 (and even that is tape delay)! Now from 10 to midnight is Jack’s Backyard, and from 12 to 1 is Straight Talk! Again, I have no problem with those programs in general. I only have a problem when they are rehashed from the hours of 7PM to 1AM on Sunday nights!

I remember a couple years ago, WEEU used to have some neat programs Sunday night like When Radio Was. When that was taken out, I could tolerate that, but now Bill Cunningham? This is the straw that breaks the camel's back!

If they need stuff to play in those hours, at least play some music, ya know? Heck, bring Jerry Paul back! I'd rather have him "by my side" than rehashed radio.

I love WEEU, and local radio in general, but this not good at all. I hope they get some better programing.

I would think you should be able to pick up Bill Cunningham on either WABC, or his home station of 700 WLW at that time. I know its disappointing when your station takes off a program you like. You also might consider listening to the program on the internet. I too liked "When Radio Was" and I'm grateful for the internet so I can stream those programs not in my area. I know that WLW streams and podcasts most if not all of their programming.

Yeah I actually use WABC to listen to Sean Hannity, which is fine because WEEU has their local programing (which I am all for).

Only problem is, I will have to get a Wi-Fi Radio for the bedroom then, because that's where I listened to Bill Cunningham, was while I was in bed for the night.

Bill Cunningham is another whiny neo-con with his great american baloney! I listen only while waiting for Coast To Coast on WAEB. Then I fall asleep and awake to BGW at which time I immediately jump out of bed and switch him off! Savage is the only one that knows what he's talking about. I understand that WEEU cancelled him because of some uptight Dutch Woman complaining. This is a travesty! Fortunately I can still hear Savage in the LV on AEB unless they have those Nascar and Penn State shows on. Getting back to Bill I totally stand behind WEEU's decision to drop him. What a geek. You're a great American! BC, you can go stick it!

Wow, I forgot about that guy. Jerry Paul was a trip! He's the dude that played all those oddball B-side tunes and had a real off-beat sense of humor right? God that was when WEEU was fun. When they had DJ's on weekends. I agree. I'm not saying bring back the music shows ... some of them were a bit weird, but at least put ORIGINAL content on. Not repeats. Boring. Otherwise WEEU is a cool station. Oh, and what happened to traffic guy Pat Daniels? Not to say he was anything to write home about, but this girl they have on now sounds like she has four lines that she repeats over and over every hour every day. "No problems on Berks Roadways today. 422 moving just fine. 222 is fine." Good heavens, she gets paid for that??

I have to sorely disagree here. Bill Cunningham is just a passionate American (need more people like that) who is worried about the country. Savage was alright, I did listen to him. He did get a little crazy at times, but I really didn't mind, he had good points. I do find though that Lars Larson is an adequate replacement.

Yeah that's the guy. Used to listen to him every weekend when I was in my early teens. Come to think of it, he's why my taste in music is kinda crazy. :p lol

Right! Replayed talk shows are not very appealing IMHO. Otherwise it is a great station indeed. It's just this little bump here that gets my gourd.

I suspect Pat was put out to pasture (aka retired). He's used as a news reporter here and there. I think Steph Rollinson (sp) is alright though, and hey if there isn't anything going on, what else would you say?. I wonder how old Steph is though?
