WEGO Streaming Is Now Available

Has anyone been able to receive it on an Android phone? i can see the "player" on the web page, but cannot get it to start. Works fine on PC and iPad.

Works fine, on my Samsung Nexus II, via Internet browser. Controls are a little small, I had to zoom/expand to adjust as needed.

Htc incredible2, have installed Winamp app and tried by zooming to click player, and by clicking the winamp app icon, but no go.

Listening to Steve Deace right now

Honestly I have no idea who Steve Deace is but regardless....they are up and running for sure.

I love the little Flynn & Smith liners with the eagle roar.....breaks are PSA marathons but that's expected with a new startup. Can't wait to listen to the morning show tomorrow online in Greensboro at work!! Way to go 980 for being quick on the trigger with the stream, I honestly thought this would take longer.

I listened to the tail end of the morning show this morning, then Huckabee for a while.
The morning show sounded good, like they were having fun instead of going through the motions or following a complete script.
I only heard a few local commercials, but like stafferman said that's to be expected at this stage. They might have had as many local ads as our local news/talk WFNC does though. And it's not a startup.

By the way interesting network affiliation for WEGO. SRN, I had no idea who they were when I heard them tagging stories with SRN News. I looked them up, A conservative-christian network called Salem Radio. They syndicate Mike Gallagher, Bill Bennett, Hugh Hewitt, and a whole bunch of christian talk/music programming.

Found that to be an interesting affiliation. They aren't making any bones about the style of programming they want to broadcasting. Signing up with a network like SRN means they will be staying true to the bible belt.

It's more that a matter of who they sign with for a network. SRN is owned by the same company that owns WEGO. They likely get it free, and SRN does the job of keeping the listeners in touch with the world, plus giving the local guys a 5-minute break every hour.

I don't recall seeing in the News and Record that anyone replaced WZTK carrying Wake Forest games. I remember WPCM aired either the Panthers or Wake when both were on at the same time. Although I get that Elon would be a problem. And if the games are at night then that's no help.

The News and Observer lists WHLQ but that can't be right since that's The Pulse. Unless The Pulse is carrying the games, in which case the News and Observer needs to fix the call letters. That's another phone call I need to make.

But The Journal is only listing WBRF and not WEGO when Wake plays.

Newspaper stories about radio stations almost always have errors in them, usually in the frequencies or band or something that's slap-your-head silly.

It's not a story. It's a list that appears on page 2 of the sports section. Most of what's in the list is TV stations, and the majority of those are cable channels.

Greensboro and Mooresvile call ins this morning on the WEGO morning show. One caller said he was listening on his phone. Streaming is working for them, at least today.

like I said in another post, streaming will make transmitter strength irrelevant. We're more than halfway there already. If wego can survive its embryonic period, with enough financial backing, it will be a major player in 3 years or less. Additionally, Carbone & crew must be amazed that wsjs is handing them the keys to the kingdom by proactively shedding audience and advertisers as fast as they possibly can.

I gotta imagine at some point they'll just pull the plug and flip it to sports with the Triad Sports network, maybe keep Campbell in the afternoon as some local entertainment/sports show locally in Winston, break it off from Raleigh in the afternoon.....makes a lot more sense than what their doing now. News at noon? Music on the weekends? Dave Ramsey? None of it makes sense

It's lost all credibility as a source of news..more and more and more people will just jump towards WEGO once they get off and running

Curtis also just bought two more stations in Kinston, they'll be putting more resources to building up a new purchase than feeding a starved AMer in Winston that's a shell of its former self

maybe flipping to sports would make sense if there was a promotional campaign behind it, but I have to be honest and tell you that I only know about the Triad sports network from reading about it on this website. Its invisible, and has zero profile in the triad. if wsjs became sports radio, wouldnt that be sort of a lateral move.....maybe even a backwards pass......maybe more like a safety
