weird... BBC World Service on 9700 kHz now @08:58UT

I thought not only was BBC World Service cutting transmissions.. but that no transmissions on 9700. Don't see it in any published listings I can find.

Reception good to excellent. Long discourse on flu until about now, interrupting for breaking news. I am getting better reception on BBC than the usual best English lang. station on HF here: R Aus.

radio: TenTec RX320D
running a random wire for antenna 65' vertical coax and then 70' E/W horizontal wire

Reception fair to good across the bands.

I'm a moron. It's RNZI... with BBC clips/rebroadcast. Unfortunately deleting comments not an option.

I apologize! False Alarm!

You're not a moron......I *was* thinking, however, what date this is....

BBC comes in very good around 6-8AM local time on 9740 targeted toward East Asia. The Asians really take over the lower bands during these hours.

I'm really surprised at RNZI's signal this morning. I'm currently listening on 9655 kHz. Is the Rangitiaki site really only running 50 kW???
